Chapter 105: The High Priest of Gluttony

Upon hearing this, the woman’s heart jolted. “Evan, do you realize what kind of disaster your words might unleash?”
“Eloisia, do you think I’d lie to you? This was told to me by a doll trained by the witches themselves.”
The woman’s name was Eloisia, a succubus.
Unlike other eerie creatures, succubi could enhance their power by absorbing… certain energies from men.
Because they did not need to gather terrifying emotions, succubi typically served as intermediary demons between local eerie beings and the priests.
(P.S.: Earlier, demons were subordinates under the Lust Priest of the Holy Archbishop. Later, when each priest came to govern a region, demons became mere tools.)
Eloisia frowned deeply. “If that’s true, we must report this immediately to the Gluttony High Priest.”
As she spoke, a pair of black wings sprouted from her back. She opened the window and flew off, carrying Evan with her.
They feared no interference from the Oracles or Spirit Masters; as long as these eerie beings didn’t threaten their core interests, they wouldn’t meddle.
Eloisia flew Evan deep into the mountains, arriving at a low hill guarded by several people clad in red robes. Upon seeing Eloisia, they respectfully parted to let them through.
Following a cave path inward, they arrived at a magnificent palace.
Evan’s eyes were covered the entire time; he couldn’t possibly memorize the route.
What seemed just a small cave outside was an entirely different world within.
Inside the palace sat a throne upon which rested a grotesque creature with a pig’s head and human body. Two tusks protruded from the cracked and scarred pig’s snout, giving it a terrifying appearance.
This was the Holy Archbishop, the Gluttony High Priest, Gothnei.
Beside him stood robed humans identical to those outside.
Below the throne was a step, and beneath it stood two rows of various demons. The scale of this assembly surpassed even that of the infamously wicked Poison Queen, though Gothnei himself had only reached the third stage of the Kaiyuan cultivation level.
Eloisia led Evan between the rows of demons and bowed deeply before Gothnei.
“Eloisia pays respects to the Gluttony High Priest, Holy Archbishop.”
Evan echoed the same words.
The title “Holy Archbishop” clearly referred to the human standing beside Gothnei.

Gothnei sat on the throne without opening his eyes; only the human archbishop beside him spoke.
“What brings you here?”
Eloisia bowed again. “This one, named Evan, a nightmare demon, says the witches intend to declare war on us.” She then pushed Evan forward.
Evan had never witnessed such a grand assembly in his life. Although he was quite powerful, within this Holy Archbishop’s domain, strength meant nothing—only status mattered.
And as a nightmare demon, his rank was exceedingly low. This meant he scarcely had the chance to even meet a high priest.
At last, the high priest opened his eyes. His small eyes sat atop his enormous head, looking almost comical.
The human archbishop, perceptive to Gothnei’s reaction, immediately asked, “Evan, explain.”
Evan trembled as he stepped forward and knelt.
“It’s like this: I was collecting terror energy as usual with my Lordo Magic Boxes, when suddenly a doll appeared. It snatched seven of my Lordo Magic Boxes, claimed to be a subordinate of the witches, and told you to find him in the Elf Forest.”
His words were clearly exaggerated, at least doubled. The claim of seven Lordo Magic Boxes was pure fabrication.
He said this because he was supposed to submit supplies every three months; more than two months had passed, so he was due to hand over seven boxes. By claiming they were all stolen, he avoided his duty.
Upon hearing this, Gothnei snorted in fury—a sound akin to a pig’s grunt.
“Hmph! Infuriating! That petty little witch dares to do this to us!”
As he spoke, he seemed to realize something: “Could it be they discovered I devoured Kori?”
Not long ago, out of curiosity, he had captured a witch to taste her. Could this secret have been exposed?
This thought only confirmed Evan’s tale, fueling his rage, which made him hungry.
Looking around, it seemed the only thing he could eat now was Evan. He gestured toward him.
“You’ve done well to bring this intelligence. I shall reward you.”
Evan raised his head in disbelief. He hadn’t expected a reward for delivering such news. Eagerly, he approached the stage, smiling as he knelt at Gothnei’s feet and set aside his fork.
Gothnei nodded approvingly at Evan, then opened his blood-red maw wide, swallowing him in one gulp. He chewed twice before swallowing.

After eating, Gothnei clicked his tongue. “A bit dry.” Then he looked down at the others. “He’s just a lowly nightmare demon. Being eaten by me is the greatest reward he could receive.”
The demons below laughed gleefully, finding the entire scene amusing rather than frightening or pitiful. They thought Evan was simply unlucky.
Before their laughter could die down, Gothnei continued: “Likewise, it was an honor for that witch Kori to be eaten by me. Those witches are truly unwise to challenge me. I will make them pay dearly!”
Turning his pig head toward his human archbishop, he commanded, “Contact the Wrath High Priest and the Pride High Priest. The three of us will strike together to crush the Elf Forest!”
Thus, due to Evan’s exaggerations, the eerie creatures under the Holy Archbishop and the witches of the Elf Forest were on the brink of a great war. Ironically, Evan, the very source of this conflict, had been consumed, leaving no witness to his story.
Meanwhile, Feng Tianlin waited in the welfare home for the nightmare demon Evan to summon the so-called Holy Lord and to bring a large batch of those Lordo Magic Boxes.
But he wasn’t idle during the wait; he occasionally staged some terrifying scenes within the welfare home.
Snell was a child who had grown up there. With no social connections or special abilities, he could only continue working at the welfare home.
Lately, the director had been acting strange, insisting that the little girl from Huaxia was unusual and that her toys were eerie creatures.
This made the ever-honest Snell suspect the director might be mentally unwell. How could eerie creatures disguise themselves as toys and only scare people at certain times?
One night, Snell woke to use the restroom and saw a little girl crouching by the girls’ bathroom door. Judging by her Lolita dress, she must be that Huaxia girl.
The girl was always silent—mainly because she didn’t understand the local language. No matter what was said to her, she only nodded and gave an eerie smile, sometimes quite frightening, which caused other children to avoid playing with her.
But that hardly justified the director’s claim that her toys were eerie beings.
To Snell, everything seemed normal. After all, to ordinary people in this land, Huaxia was mysterious. This girl’s aloofness and strangeness seemed fitting. Perhaps all Huaxia people were like that.
Thinking this, he smiled faintly and shook his head. “I can’t see what’s so scary about this girl,” he said, then walked toward her.
He didn’t yet know the true terror she possessed, but soon, he would.
