Chapter Eighty-Seven: Yanze, Die!
Although he had long been prepared, the speed of the Scarlet Gold Divine Armor in flight still left Lan Tian stunned.
With his own physical toughness, he could barely endure it. In less than a minute, he had already circled the Earth once and seen Flame Abyss again.
“My heavens... at this speed, it’s unbeatable...” Lan Tian murmured under his breath.
Then the Scarlet Gold Divine Armor, carrying terrifying momentum, slammed into Flame Abyss.
“Tch. What’s that supposed to be? That was only a little appetizer,” Bai’s voice sounded beside his ear. At present, Bai was controlling the Scarlet Gold Divine Armor throughout. With Lan Tian’s current strength, the armor’s speed had already left him dizzy and unable to tell east from west, south from north.
A thunderous impact rang out, so violent that it echoed across half of Asia. Flame Abyss had no power to resist at all; the Scarlet Gold Divine Armor forced it high into the air, then without pause hurled it toward outer space.
“Lan Tian, hurry and take a deep breath. Next, we’re going to space to finish it off for good!” Bai’s excited voice sounded again.
Lan Tian immediately obeyed. Through the armor’s special design, he sucked in a great breath of the outside air. Just as he felt it might not be enough and prepared to take another, there was no air left around him to draw in.
In the blink of an eye, they had already pierced through Earth’s atmosphere and arrived in space!
Once in space, the Scarlet Gold Divine Armor was no longer hindered by air, and its speed surged yet again. Earth shrank at a visible rate.
Flame Abyss roared incessantly, struggling madly in an attempt to escape. Yet the armor’s speed had already surpassed the limit of what it could break free from. No matter how hard it fought, it could only be shoved onward.
In helpless fury, it could do nothing but unleash all of its Bloodfire of the Star, wrapping it around the Scarlet Gold Divine Armor in an attempt to burn down this iron monster that terrified it.
Alas, in the armor’s flight mode, the effect of the Bloodfire of the Star was greatly weakened. Though its bulk swelled several times over, Lan Tian inside was well protected.
Lan Tian felt the warmth around his body and found himself enveloped in a pleasantly cozy sensation, almost as though he were soaking in a steam bath.
Unlike battle mode, the Scarlet Gold Divine Armor in flight mode focused more on protection, because the harshness of space was far too great, and the armor’s flight speed was far too extreme. When the Battle God first designed it, protection had been a major concern. Otherwise, if one accidentally flew into some perilous region, then with even a slight deficiency in defense, the armor itself might be fine, but the person inside could be gravely injured. After all, the flight mode also had a passenger configuration and could carry people, though at most two or three.
By now, they were already a great distance from Earth. After Bai’s precise calculations, the Scarlet Gold Divine Armor began to accelerate in reverse. Accounting for Flame Abyss’s own flight distance, only ten minutes were needed before the momentum it generated could directly destroy Flame Abyss’s head, without also annihilating the rest of its body.
That point was crucial. In Bai’s view, the greatest purpose of killing Flame Abyss was for its blood essence. If they simply smashed its whole body to pieces, then the meaning of killing it would be greatly diminished.
At last, under Lan Tian’s intensely eager gaze, the reverse acceleration was complete, and the Scarlet Gold Divine Armor charged toward Flame Abyss at full speed!
After all, Flame Abyss was still young and panicked into a blind flight, with no clear direction of escape. In front of the Scarlet Gold Divine Armor, it was nothing more than a living target.
Ten minutes flashed by in an instant. The Scarlet Gold Divine Armor traced a graceful arc, as though striking tofu, and shattered Flame Abyss’s head to pieces.
After a brief convulsion, this dreadful creature that had imperiled the entire world finally turned into a cold corpse, drifting in space, with not the slightest trace of life left.
Flame Abyss was dead!
At the same time, on a great star billions upon billions of light-years away, within a secret military institution of the Origin Blue Empire, the tracking alarm for the Battle God’s exclusive Scarlet Gold Divine Armor once again displayed a signal after tens of thousands of years of silence.
“Sir, the Battle God’s Scarlet Gold Divine Armor has a signal!” A young man who had been drowsing nodded awake in terror the moment he noticed it, then hurried to the commander’s quarters.
This was a matter the emperor had ordered everyone to watch with utmost seriousness; no one dared be even slightly careless. Thus, in an extremely short time, the news that the Scarlet Gold Divine Armor had appeared was relayed upward layer by layer through the virtual cosmic network.
“Oh? So my brother Mang Feng’s cosmic battle armor has finally shown a signal. Does that mean... he is not dead yet?” On Yuanlan Star, the capital star of the Origin Blue Empire, in the imperial palace spanning hundreds of thousands of kilometers, the emperor sat in his study, a strange gleam in his eyes, looking calmly at a high-ranking star-system guard reporting below him. A vast and oppressive pressure abruptly rose, shaking the guard so violently that he trembled all over, not daring to breathe, unable to tell what the emperor meant.
“Your... Your Majesty, thirty thousand years ago, the Battle God Lord fought a star beast across the void, and his life or death became unknown. Now that his cosmic battle armor has signaled again, should we send someone to investigate?” the guard asked cautiously.
“On this matter, I have my own judgment. You need not concern yourselves. Withdraw,” the emperor said lightly, waving a hand to dismiss him.
After the guard left, a person suddenly stepped out from the shadows within the study. If the Battle God were still alive, he would surely recognize this man at once: he was none other than Prince Lan, famously at odds with the emperor of the Origin Blue Empire!
Yet at this moment, Prince Lan’s demeanor bore not the slightest resemblance to his usual self. He knelt on one knee with complete deference and said, “Royal brother, the fact that Mang Feng is dead is certain. Everyone in the Battle God’s residence, including slaves and servants, totaling twenty-six thousand seven hundred and eighteen, has been secretly interrogated and executed without a single omission. The Scarlet Gold Divine Armor must have been inherited by someone. In my view, should we dispatch men to capture Mang Feng’s successor?”
“We must go, certainly. But there is no need to make a grand affair of it. Send a squad to trace the source of the Scarlet Gold Divine Armor’s signal and invite my brother Mang Feng’s disciple and successor over,” the emperor said with a nod. “Remember, this is top secret. The Battle God Mang Feng will forever remain a spiritual symbol of our Origin Blue Empire.”
“Rest assured, Royal Brother. I shall personally oversee this matter and surely capture Mang Feng’s successor alive. Perhaps the secret Mang Feng obtained from the Azure Thunder Secret Realm has also been passed to him...” Prince Lan said respectfully.
In truth, even though they were born of the same mother, whenever he faced this royal brother, he felt immense pressure. It was not only because of the difference in cultivation, but even more because of his fear of this brother’s ruthless and merciless nature.
Unlike Bai’s speculation, only he knew that the true reason this royal brother had moved against his sworn brother Mang Feng was absolutely not some empty accusation of threatening the throne. It was because of the secret Mang Feng had obtained from the Azure Thunder Secret Realm...
A secret so enormous that even Mang Feng himself had not fully understood it, yet which the emperor had set his sights on!
