After a long silence, Blue Sky lifted his head, grinning mischievously. “From now on, you belong to me.”

“Nonsense! How do I belong to you? You just ambushed me!” Wang Ling’s cheeks flushed crimson with embarrassment and indignation. She spat at him, then raised her hand and smacked his arm hard. The force of her gesture triggered a sharp pain in her wound, causing her to frown.

“Don’t move. You just had surgery. Be good,” Blue Sky soothed, gently smoothing her furrowed brow, his voice tender. “Silly girl, let me tell you something.”

“Actually… I’m not afraid of bullets.”

“Huh? What do you mean?” Wang Ling stared at him with her big, adorable eyes, puzzled.

“I said, I’m not afraid of bullets at all. If you hadn’t shielded me, you’d have witnessed Superman,” Blue Sky explained, guilt washing over him again. If only he had told her sooner, she wouldn’t have nearly lost her life.

“What Superman, darling? What are you saying?” Wang Ling tilted her head in confusion, her face still reflecting complete bewilderment.

“…Zou Tao is dead. I punched a hole through his chest.” At the mention of Zou Tao, Blue Sky’s expression darkened. If he hadn’t been so furious at the time, he would never have let him die so easily.

“What? Zou Tao is dead? You killed him?! Don’t scare me! Even if it was self-defense, if you really killed him, that’s clearly excessive force—it could even lead to a charge of intentional homicide! You’ll be criminally liable!” True to her profession, Wang Ling first shot Blue Sky a look of astonishment, then rattled off a cascade of consequences, genuinely anxious. After being struck by the bullet, she’d fallen unconscious from the pain, missing Blue Sky’s rampage that followed.

“Excessive force? Intentional homicide? I wish I could kill him a hundred times!” Blue Sky shook his head. “Don’t worry. Even if it was intentional, no one can do anything to me.”

Wang Ling frowned deeper, about to protest, but then she caught sight of Blue Sky’s hand, and was stunned, her eyes widening in disbelief.

She witnessed an incredible scene.

Blue Sky extended his right hand. The ring on his finger began to wriggle, slipped off, and hovered in midair. Then, a beam of light shot outward from within the ring, and instantly, a three-dimensional projection appeared before her, bearing a striking resemblance to Blue Sky.

“Hello, Wang Ling.”

“My name is Bai, an intelligent being from the cosmos.” The figure was, of course, Bai. For the first time, Blue Sky revealed his greatest secret to Wang Ling without reservation.

“Bai is an alien, and my friend,” Blue Sky explained, smiling at Wang Ling’s dazed, adorable expression. “With Bai here, nothing on Earth can threaten me.”

“Uh… Am I dreaming? Or am I already dead and these are hallucinations?” Wang Ling muttered in a daze.

“Haha, of course it’s not a dream. I can assure you, your boyfriend is invincible on Earth,” Bai laughed heartily. In truth, Wang Ling’s actions had deeply moved Bai, earning its approval—otherwise, with its pride, it would never reveal itself to an ordinary person.

“Uh… Bai, hello. I never imagined aliens really existed in this universe…” Wang Ling still looked as if she were dreaming, but instinctively greeted Bai.

Then she suddenly turned to Blue Sky, as if realizing something. “Wait, I get it now—the virtual network, did you get that from Bai?”

“Yes. Otherwise, how could I, a humanities major, create something like that?” Blue Sky replied, grinning.

“Ah, that makes sense! You scared me so much! I thought you were a genius, but you’re a fake!” Wang Ling felt relieved. Blue Sky had truly startled her; ever since experiencing the virtual network, she’d felt he was so far above her that she could only look up in awe. That little secret longing in her heart had nearly been forced into hiding; if not for the bullet incident, she might have compelled herself to treat Blue Sky as just another friend.

Now, knowing everything, she felt not disappointed, but liberated.

“No, you’re wrong. Blue Sky is a true genius. Even among countless humans in the universe, his talent is exceptional. If luck favors him in the future, his destiny may surpass your imagination!” Bai offered Blue Sky a rare compliment, voicing a thought hidden deep within.

“Heh, you don’t need to listen to it. I’ll tell you about those cosmic matters later. Your parents must be anxious by now. I’ll step out and let them come in,” Blue Sky said, embarrassed by Bai’s praise, joking as he left. “You should have seen it—your father nearly tore me apart earlier. Scared the life out of me.”

“Ha! Serves you right! You should’ve told me sooner! Nearly cost me my life! Hmph!” Wang Ling pouted playfully.

Blue Sky left the hospital room, intending to give Wang Ling’s family some time together. Unexpectedly, Wang Ling’s father didn’t enter with her mother, instead calling Blue Sky over with a stern expression. “Young man, I think you owe me an explanation.”

“Uh… Uncle, what would you like to know?” Blue Sky scratched his head awkwardly, almost blurting out “father-in-law” in his nervousness.

“I want to know who you really are. Why did you approach Xiao Ling? What’s your purpose?” Wang Ling’s father demanded.

“Uh… Uncle, I didn’t deliberately approach Wang Ling. That night you two argued, she went out drinking, got wasted, and collapsed at the bar’s entrance. If I hadn’t rescued her from some thugs, she might have been in serious trouble,” Blue Sky explained hastily, seizing the chance to score some points with his would-be father-in-law. “As for who I am, that’s not easily explained. How about I visit in a few days and we talk in detail?”

“You want to come visit?! Get as far away as possible! Right now, you’re a murderer!” Wang Ling’s father raised his brows, rebuking him.

“Murderer? Uncle, you may not believe it, but even if I am, no one can touch me,” Blue Sky replied with a mysterious, confident smile.

“Where does that confidence come from?” Wang Ling’s father frowned, unable to fathom how this young man could be so fearless—did he think he could withstand guns and cannons?

“Uncle, you’re Wang Ling’s father, so I won’t hide it from you. I do have… some trump cards,” Blue Sky paused, then said slowly. “What they are, you’ll find out when the virtual network is launched. There will be moves from all sides, and then you’ll understand.”

“What… do you mean?” Wang Ling’s father trembled at the words, gazing at Blue Sky with a thoughtful look.
