Chapter Thirty-Five: You Are Truly Shameless!
Blue Sky couldn’t help but envision terrifying scenes in his mind, his forehead drenched in cold sweat.
Lately, everything had been going so smoothly for him that he’d even begun to question the necessity of venturing into the cosmos to fight for his life. Wouldn’t it be better to simply enjoy his days on Earth, living peacefully as a local despot? On Earth, he was convinced that once he reached Energy Gathering Level 19, he would be invincible; everything on the planet would bend to his will.
Now, after being so rudely awakened by Bai, an acute sense of crisis and urgency gripped him. Indeed, no one could say when Earth would be discovered by forces from the universe—perhaps tens of thousands, or even millions of years from now, or maybe not until the end of Earth’s natural lifespan. Yet, who could truly predict? It was just as likely that within years, months, days, or even the next second, Earth might be detected by cosmic powers.
The consequences of such a discovery would be more than he could bear.
Blue Sky dared not gamble, especially since he possessed the ability and hope to protect Earth. That made him even less willing to risk it. He was afraid—afraid that Earth would be discovered before his strength matured, or that his power would still fall short when the time came, unable to defend his home.
He could no longer afford to be complacent or self-satisfied. He suddenly felt as if his shoulders bore a tremendous weight, carrying the heavy responsibility of fighting for Earth’s future, all while his fellow earthlings remained oblivious.
“Good. Thinking this way means you’re not beyond saving. Work hard, young man! Don’t wait until your home planet has become prey for others to regret not striving harder!”
“You should feel fortunate. Unlike the ordinary natives of this planet, you are the inheritor of the Battle God legacy from the Source Lan Empire. You have the power!” Bai’s words stirred Blue Sky’s blood, igniting his fighting spirit.
Yes, he was not just another ordinary native of Earth!
He possessed the Battle God legacy, precious even by cosmic standards, granting him a capital that countless others could only dream of. On the path of the strong, he was already leagues ahead at the starting line—what reason did he have not to fight? His future was boundless.
From that moment on, Blue Sky’s mindset underwent a fundamental transformation. He finally lifted himself out from among Earth’s people and placed himself on the vast, limitless stage of the universe.
Now, whether it was the hundred million or the title of Ning City’s wealthiest, such things suddenly seemed insignificant to him.
His goal was singular now: to work and fight for Earth and for humanity.
“I hope you’ll always remember this resolve and not let it be a fleeting impulse,” Bai said with satisfaction. In its view, Blue Sky was finally worthy of being called the inheritor of the Battle God legacy.
“This is no mere impulse—this is my lifelong goal!” Blue Sky replied firmly. Then, after a brief pause, he added, “Bai, from now on, occasionally probe my thoughts. I’m afraid I might slip back into complacency and will need your encouragement, sincerely.”
After he finished, his expression turned odd. He imagined what would happen if Bai caught him having indecent thoughts while alone with a girl—it would be mortifying!
He hastily added, “Of course, when I’m dating, you’d better stay away as far as possible!”
“Hahaha, I refuse! If you want to stop me from probing your mind, you’ll have to reach the Star Radiance level. Once you possess cosmic star energy, you’ll be able to shield yourself from me.” Bai laughed heartily, thoroughly pleased—it had found a perfect way to motivate Blue Sky’s cultivation.
“…Bai.”
“What?”
“You are truly shameless…”
“Haha, thank you. Well, I’m going to sleep now—no more chatter. Train extra hard tonight!” With that, Bai slipped into its dormant—or more accurately, standby—state.
Now that he had money, the cost of electricity didn’t bother him anymore. Maybe he should let Bai recharge a bit later?
Blue Sky frowned slightly, considering the idea of providing Bai with more energy.
“Hmm, at least you have a conscience,” Bai’s voice suddenly piped up.
“Damn…is this a sneak attack? Don’t you realize that if this keeps up, I’ll end up with a nervous breakdown?” Blue Sky’s expression was as if he’d swallowed a fly, raging internally.
“Just checking if you’d badmouth me behind my back. Not bad—I’m gratified. Keep it up,” Bai said with a sheepish laugh, a hint of emotion in its voice.
After waiting a while, Blue Sky deliberately cursed Bai in his mind a few times. Seeing no response, he was finally certain—it had truly gone dormant this time.
He pressed the internal line on his desk. “Hello, Miki, come to my office for a moment.”
Miki was Zou Lintao’s secretary—young but highly efficient. Blue Sky had no complaints about her, and so left her in place.
“Mr. Blue, you called?” Miki soon knocked and entered.
“Is our company’s power consumption high?” Blue Sky asked.
“Uh…actually, I haven’t paid attention to that. I’ll ask the logistics department in a bit. Do you have any instructions, Mr. Blue?” Miki was surprised—the new boss had asked such a tricky question. She suspected this might be a test.
“Oh, nothing special. Later, have logistics prepare to maximize our company’s electrical capacity,” Blue Sky said vaguely, not very knowledgeable about electricity.
“Uh…what do you mean?” Miki queried, puzzled.
“Well…basically, upgrade our power supply system to the maximum capacity permitted by the relevant authorities,” Blue Sky explained after thinking it over.
“Understood. I’ll handle it right away.” Miki nodded respectfully and left with no hesitation.
Huh? She’s gone already?!
Blue Sky’s face twisted in disbelief. He’d spent ages coming up with excuses for expanding the electrical capacity, ready to explain if questioned, but she didn’t ask a single thing…
“No wonder Zou Lin trusts her so much—a truly professional secretary…” He could only sigh.
The rest of the day, Blue Sky indulged fully in his role as chairman, roaming through the company, buying afternoon tea for everyone out of his own pocket to show his approachability, and checking in with employees, which sent the single female staff into a frenzy of admiration. They declared the new chairman the best in the world and their enthusiasm soared.
“Ah, being handsome really has its perks—tsk tsk~” After work, Blue Sky hummed a tune, drove home, and was in excellent spirits.
“I’d say it’s more that you’re ugly and up to mischief! Get moving and start your training!” Bai’s signature taunt rang out.
Blue Sky: “…”
