Thanks to the excellent growth of the little mushrooms White Yan had planted, they had only made two trips to the county town before Magistrate Chen had already remembered them.

At the county yamen, the accountant settled their accounts, and Magistrate Chen stood by with curiosity, asking Jiang Chengyan, “When will the rest of your crops be ready? These mushrooms are beautiful to look at and delicious to eat. Right now, demand far exceeds supply.”

“When they’re harvested is up to Heaven, not us,” Jiang Chengyan replied, his tone cool and indifferent. White Yan, on the other hand, was happily counting the money bags off to the side.

“Go home and farm. Stop standing here and irritating me,” Magistrate Chen said with a dismissive wave.

This young man had a certain haughty air about him, as though he relied on his own talent and looked down on others. Truly difficult to deal with.

After leaving the yamen, Jiang Chengyan took White Yan to the chicken farm. Their thirty acres of land were in need of fertilizer, and the fertilizer naturally had to come from there. But on the way out of the county town, as they passed along a broad street, White Yan saw a brightly dressed woman waving a handkerchief at them.

“Well now, handsome sir, won’t you come in and enjoy yourself?”

Jiang Chengyan did not even spare her a glance. He simply held White Yan’s hand and kept walking. White Yan, however, suddenly stopped.

“What is it?” Jiang Chengyan looked at her.

White Yan widened her eyes and pointed curiously at the ornate building.

“Enjoy yourself.”

The man closed his eyes briefly, forcing down his temper. He reached out and pinched her little hand, his voice low. “You want to go in?”

Under Jiang Chengyan’s gaze, White Yan nodded without the slightest hint of guilt.

Thus, the madam who had been open for business since early morning watched as a frosty, stern-looking man led his little wife into her pleasure house.

She had merely noticed that the man was handsome and wanted to tease him a little, but who would have thought these two would actually come inside?

“Sir? You should come alone. Bringing this young lady with you is rather inconvenient,” the courtesan said, studying White Yan. When she caught sight of the clothes White Yan was wearing, she was a little surprised. They did not seem like something an ordinary family could afford.

“We’re just here to have a look around,” Jiang Chengyan said. He took out a piece of silver and tossed it into the courtesan’s hand, then led White Yan upstairs without even glancing aside.

The courtesan: “???” Have a look around? At a pleasure house?

Jiang Chengyan held White Yan’s hand as they climbed the stairs. White Yan looked around with curiosity, taking in everything. But the higher they went, the more she began to sneeze uncontrollably.

“Ah-choo!”

“Ah-choo, ah-choo!”

Seeing her sneeze over and over, Jiang Chengyan did not ask anything. He simply led her to the second floor. In front of them hung graceful, floating gauze drapes.

“Husband, it smells so awful here!” The fragrance was far too pungent, and White Yan could not stop sneezing.

“Who is that little wench sneezing so loudly this early in the morning? If she doesn’t want her nose, we can cut it off!”

Just as White Yan finished sneezing, a sharp voice suddenly rang out from a nearby room, frightening her so much that she immediately hid in Jiang Chengyan’s arms.

Jiang Chengyan lowered his eyes to the person in his embrace, his voice dangerous yet tinged with amusement. “Enjoy yourself?”

“No, no, n-no... no more.”

Whenever she was nervous, she tended to stammer.

“And you still want to come in here in the future?” Jiang Chengyan asked again.

The little rabbit shook her head furiously.

Satisfied with the answer, Jiang Chengyan led his young wife downstairs.

When the courtesan saw the two of them come down without changing expression, she had just started to breathe a sigh of relief when, the next moment, a little mushroom was held out before her.

“Grandma, would you like to buy some mushrooms? These mushrooms are very tasty.”

The crisp little voice sounded beside the courtesan’s ear.

The courtesan: “???” Grandma???

Are you joking with me?
