Chapter 95: Blindingly Dazzling
Once she stepped into the room, Yin Mier’s indecisiveness flared up completely. There were so many beautiful clothes that she truly had no idea how to choose. In fact, a few years earlier she had endorsed some luxury brands, but not long after that she was shelved, and the years that followed were practically one of utter poverty.
She really had not dressed herself with confidence for a very long time, had not shone in a crowd for anyone but herself.
Lin Zhiwei leaned against the door, sipping cola, and pointed at a burgundy Dior dress with a low neckline in the distance. “That one.”
Yin Mier blushed and tossed a cushion at her. “You never take anything seriously.”
Lin Zhiwei caught the cushion with a perfectly innocent look. “I’m considering your figure from every angle. That one will definitely bring out your curves.”
Yin Mier gritted her teeth. “Fine. I’ll try it.” She carried the dress into the bathroom.
Lin Zhiwei waited nearby, bored, yawning now and then. A moment later, Yin Mier came out hesitantly, one hand over her chest.
Lin Zhiwei’s eyes lit up at once. The little Dior dress suited Yin Mier perfectly. It was low-cut without being revealing, and the fitted skirt ended just above the knee, showing off her long, pale legs. Her lips were red, her teeth white, and she looked dazzlingly beautiful as she asked Lin Zhiwei’s opinion with a trace of uncertainty.
Lin Zhiwei lifted the can in her hand. “Such beauty is a feast for the eyes and the appetite. I’ve been electrocuted into silence.”
“Stop teasing me again.” Yin Mier lowered her head unconsciously, then immediately felt something was off and frowned suspiciously. “Weiwei, why aren’t you changing too?”
“Hey, what else is there to change into? I’ll just be your bodyguard. If any filthy hand gets ideas, I can kick him to death on the spot.” After saying that, she made a cracking-knuckles gesture.
“No, you have to change. This is the first time we’re going out together, and Brother Liang even sent so many dresses.” Yin Mier began rummaging through the clothes without listening to protest.
Lin Zhiwei hid to the side with a tearful face. “No need, really, miss. I’m just decoration, a bodyguard, that’s all.”
The last time she had worn a formal dress was still vivid in her mind. The high heels had rubbed her heels raw, and in a dress like that there was no way to walk or sit comfortably. One had to maintain elegance and dignity at every moment. Truly exhausting.
“No way. I said change, so you change.” Yin Mier refused with certainty, grabbed a black backless dress from Maison Mo, and shoved it into her hands. “This one. Go change.”
Lin Zhiwei blinked her big eyes, her face twisted in miserable anticipation, as if facing the judgment of doomsday. “My dear, are you sure? This thing doesn’t even have a back sewn onto it.”
“Go.” Yin Mier folded her arms and pointed toward the bathroom.
“All right.” Lin Zhiwei obediently hugged the dress and walked off with the air of a martyr heading to the grave.
As Yin Mier did her makeup and waited, she found that Lin Zhiwei still had not come out after a long while, so she knocked on the door. “What are you hesitating for? It won’t help. Come out.”
“Awoo, Mier, please spare me. This dress, I, I really can’t get past it in my heart...” Lin Zhiwei’s tragic wail came from inside the bathroom.
“Come out!”
The door clicked open. Yin Mier looked her over with satisfaction, then pushed the thoroughly uncomfortable Lin Zhiwei in front of the mirror. “That’s more like it.”
“This counts as more like it? I feel like I’m basically naked.” Lin Zhiwei complained, looking as though life itself had abandoned her.
“All right, time for makeup.” Yin Mier arched her brows, her gaze lingering on Lin Zhiwei. With this outfit today, if it were seen by the film emperor, then that would truly be... unimaginable.
“Oh.” Lin Zhiwei, like a marionette on strings, sat down obediently and began her makeup. Looking at Yin Mier’s excited expression, she felt a little more at ease.
After all, today’s purpose was simply to help Yin Mier relax. She had been kept hidden away for so long; for her to recover to her current state was already no easy thing. So she would risk her life to keep this beauty company.
In the living room, Nan Yu and Liang Qisheng were already dressed and ready. Nan Yu had unusually changed into a flashy pink suit, his hair slicked back to a glossy shine. His face was small, yet strikingly handsome and eye-catching, and the black studs on both ears glittered brilliantly. Satisfied, he stood before the mirror admiring his magnificent looks.
Liang Qisheng, as always, wore a blue casual suit. On his left hand was a diamond-set sapphire ring, extravagant beyond measure, aristocratic and imposing.
The two chatted idly.
“Honestly, girls are so slow. Look, we’ve already been waiting for an hour,” Nan Yu complained.
“You don’t get it. Girls need more time for makeup and hair. Country bumpkin.” Liang Qisheng rolled his eyes at him.
“Sorry to keep you waiting, both of you.” Yin Mier’s voice came from inside the door.
The instant it opened, Nan Yu and Liang Qisheng felt their souls fly out of their bodies. The two women standing there with bright smiles were like immortals descending into the mortal world. Not only were they each breathtakingly beautiful, but together they complemented each other to perfection.
On the left, Yin Mier wore a red low-cut dress with a black coat draped over it. Her figure was graceful, her curves exquisite and alluring. Today her long straight hair had been tied into a high ponytail with obvious care, lending her a spirited, heroic beauty utterly unlike her usual gentleness. A tear mole had been added beneath her eye, making every glance and smile tender and moving. She was simply enchanting.
On the right, Lin Zhiwei was dressed in a black gown with a white coat over it. Her long hair, soft and silky like seaweed, had been styled into large waves and fell over her collarbone. Her skin was so fair it seemed ready to break. Though she looked a little slim, the dress fit her narrow waist beautifully, making her figure appear long and flawless.
Yet her makeup was outrageously bold. Under Yin Mier’s insistence, she had rarely worn such heavy makeup today: smoky eyeshadow, elongated eye corners, and a languid, seductive gaze like a cat stealing fish, full of temptation. Her red lips curved slightly, drawing out the mole at the corner of her mouth. It was the very height of imposing, alluring beauty, yet it carried an indescribable danger, her presence fully unleashed.
“L-Little Lin, are you going to a beauty pageant today? You’re practically blinding me blind,” Nan Yu blurted out after a long silence.
Lin Zhiwei spread her hands and tilted the corners of her mouth. “My wife likes it.”
“C-cough... d-don’t... don’t smile at me.” Liang Qisheng turned his eyes away, but his heart was pounding wildly.
“Then let’s go.” Lin Zhiwei tilted her head slightly, already feeling that these high heels would probably leave her feet useless by tomorrow.
“The car is downstairs.” Liang Qisheng still had not recovered from his shock and answered mechanically. The last time he had seen Lin Zhiwei in a dress at the arbitration meeting, it had already been enough to stun him. But seeing her today...
He felt that his little heart had been completely shattered. Heaven above, he had only just worked up the resolve to give up; reorganizing one’s mentality was not easy, all right?
