Chapter Fifty-Two: The Divine Medicine Worth a King’s Ransom
“Yes, at your command, young divine doctor.”
The Hare Lord let out a long sigh of relief, tossed aside the billiard cue, and jogged over to Ye Wushang, bowing low with respect. “Young divine doctor, I just finished teaching that little punk a lesson. Are you satisfied?”
“It’ll do.”
Ye Wushang sat down.
The Hare Lord pressed on, “About my illness, then…”
“You’ve been to the hospital for tests, haven’t you?”
“Yes, young divine doctor.”
The Hare Lord hunched even lower, his voice choked with misery. “The doctors said I’m in the late stages of lung cancer. If I don’t start chemo immediately, I have at most a month left to live.”
“You saw through my illness in a single glance, young divine doctor. Surely, you must have a way to save me?”
“I beg you, please save my life. If you can cure me, I’ll serve you loyally, no matter what you ask of me.”
“I—I’ll kneel to you!”
With that, he actually knelt down right there.
Looking at Sun Youzhi sprawled on the ground like a corpse, unmoving, Ye Wushang felt reassured.
The Hare Lord was certainly detestable, but he hadn’t actually caused him any trouble.
Since one should be merciful when possible, Ye Wushang took a deep breath and raised two fingers. “I have two conditions. If you can fulfill them, I’ll save you.”
“Say it—if you can cure me, I’ll agree to not just two, but twenty, two hundred conditions!”
The Hare Lord was overjoyed, still kneeling, clutching at Ye Wushang’s clothes in excitement.
“First, take care of the matter with Sun Chuanzi. I don’t want any complications, and, more importantly, I don’t want this to implicate me.”
The Hare Lord nodded instinctively. “No problem. In a moment, I’ll make sure everyone in the company keeps their mouths shut. If anyone gossips, I’ll deal with them myself.”
“After that, I’ll send Sun Chuanzi back to his family. I’ll say he got beaten up for harassing someone. I can make up whatever excuse.”
“Second,” Ye Wushang continued, “as for that fat Jin who runs a stall, I don’t want to see him again.”
“Understood. I’ll call to have him fired right away…”
“I mean, make him disappear.”
The Hare Lord frowned.
He’d just said this was a society governed by law—no killing allowed.
Now he was supposed to make that fat man vanish?
Suddenly, he felt just how dangerous it was to serve a person like this.
This young man, though youthful, was formidable and decisive; compared to him, the Hare Lord felt inferior.
“No problem, I’ll make sure he disappears for good.”
He quickly sent a message to arrange it and then smiled, “It’ll be taken care of in five minutes.”
“Now, about my illness…”
“It can be treated, but I’m afraid you won’t dare to undergo the treatment,” Ye Wushang said, standing up.
The Hare Lord blurted out, “Why wouldn’t I? If it can cure me, I’ll pay any price.”
“Don’t keep me guessing, young divine doctor. Please, just tell me—what’s the treatment?”
“For your illness, you only need to take this medicine.”
Ye Wushang took out a Blood Revitalizing Pill he had refined earlier and dangled it before him. “This pill was specially made for you.”
“Take it, and it will rapidly eliminate the cancer cells in your body. It won’t cure you completely, but it will ease your symptoms by at least sixty percent.”
“But to completely recover, you’ll still need acupuncture and physiotherapy afterward.”
At this, the Hare Lord frowned.
The pill looked ugly, pitch black, and emitted a foul stench, like a lump of grime rolled from a filthy body.
He could barely stand to look at it, let alone eat it.
Yet this young man claimed it could cure his cancer?
If he hadn’t witnessed Ye Wushang diagnose him in a glance, he would have thrown this charlatan out long ago!
“Young divine doctor, I don’t mean to doubt you, I’m just…curious. Does this thing really work? I…”
“You don’t want it?”
“I’ll just go, then.”
Ye Wushang pulled the pill back and turned to leave.
The Hare Lord hurried to stop him, eager to please. “No, young divine doctor, don’t be hasty.”
“I never said I didn’t want it. I was just curious. You’re the divine doctor—anything you give must be a treasure.”
“So please, give it to me. I’ll take it…”
As he reached for it, Ye Wushang smacked his hand away. “You think you can just take it? Aren’t you going to pay?”
“Of course! How much do you want? I’ll pay right now.”
The Hare Lord pretended to reach for his wallet.
Ye Wushang replied bluntly, “Fixed price—five million.”
“What?”
The Hare Lord was so shocked he nearly wet himself, dropping his wallet in disbelief. “Young divine doctor, you must be joking…”
“Do I look like someone who jokes?”
Ye Wushang’s expression was cold.
Though the pill was made from inferior ingredients, for ordinary people it was a miracle cure.
It wouldn’t bring the dead back to life, but for something as ‘minor’ as cancer, it was more than sufficient.
If the ingredients had been better, he wouldn’t sell it for less than half a billion!
“But five million for one lousy pill…”
“Ahem, I don’t mean your pill is lousy, but isn’t that a bit steep?”
“I’m not short of money, but five million is still…”
“Then forget it. Not for sale.”
Ye Wushang couldn’t be bothered to argue.
He had already achieved his purpose here; selling the medicine was irrelevant.
If this man didn’t recognize its value, someone else would.
Were it not for his urgent need for cash, he wouldn’t even have offered it for five million.
“Young divine doctor! Wait!”
The Hare Lord clung to Ye Wushang, seeing the decisiveness in his eyes. He knew that he was being taken for a fool, but this was his only hope for survival.
If it worked, five million was a bargain.
If not, even if he died, he’d make sure Ye Wushang paid for it too!
“All right, five million! I’ll take it!”
He pulled out his phone and transferred five million to Ye Wushang’s account on the spot.
Upon hearing the notification, Ye Wushang smiled faintly, handed over the pill, and said, “Take care of the medicine. If you want more, come to me.”
With that, he turned and left the office.
The watching employees made way for him, not daring to stop him.
Inside, the Hare Lord stood in a daze for several seconds before coming to his senses.
What a fool he was—five million for a pill that looked like garbage?
“Ahh…”
He popped the pill into his mouth.
It stank so badly he dared not chew, swallowing it whole.
At first, he felt nothing.
But after sitting down to pay attention, he felt as though his insides were churning.
First, his abdomen bloated.
Then, a fit of violent coughing.
After a round of agony, something miraculous happened—his body felt comfortable!
The constant exhaustion vanished.
The dizziness, the mental fog, all disappeared, replaced by a sense of indescribable vigor and well-being!
“Could this be the pill’s effect?”
The Hare Lord was baffled.
He ran to his office and fetched a testing device.
The results showed a decrease in the number of cancer cells, and their count was stable.
Not only had they not spread, but they were retreating toward the lungs.
In other words, his body was quietly, steadily healing!
“A miracle!”
“A damn miracle!”
The Hare Lord acted like a madman, shouting and hollering.
His employees looked on, mystified, but none dared approach.
“You two, clean up the scene!”
“And you, get Sun Chuanzi back to his family!”
“The rest of you, back to work! No one’s getting fired, the company isn’t being sold!”
“Everything goes on as usual!”
After giving his orders, the Hare Lord couldn’t wait any longer—he dashed out the door in search of Ye Wushang!
Moments ago, he’d thought five million for a pill was highway robbery.
Now, he’d happily pay fifty million for more.
A single pill had given him a new lease on life.
If he took a few more, wouldn’t he be completely cured?
Downstairs, Ye Wushang was hailing a taxi by the curb when the Hare Lord came running after him.
“Doctor Ye, wait, please wait!”
He rushed over, gasping for breath.
Ye Wushang frowned and asked coldly, “What is it—regretting your purchase already?”
“Is this how your Clear Breeze Pavilion does business, forcing people to buy and sell?”
“No, Doctor Ye, you misunderstand.”
The Hare Lord shook his head. “I came to buy more medicine—do you have any left?”
Ye Wushang arched an eyebrow, a smile at his lips.
Clearly, the Hare Lord had taken the pill and found the results impressive.
“There’s more medicine.”
Ye Wushang nodded.
The Hare Lord pleaded, “Then please sell it to me—five million, yes? I can pay you now…”
“The price has gone up.”
Ye Wushang waved a hand, his tone calm. “It’s ten million per pill now.”
He’d made two pills last night—one to boost his cultivation, the other he’d just sold.
He had no more pills at hand, and intended to use the five million he'd just earned to buy superior ingredients.
With better ingredients, the price would naturally rise.
“What, ten million?”
The Hare Lord swallowed hard. “Doctor Ye, you can’t just raise the price like this! I…”
“Take it or leave it. If not, I’m leaving.”
Ye Wushang moved to get in the taxi. Sensing the opportunity slipping away, the Hare Lord couldn’t let it go!
Painful as it was, he gritted his teeth and grabbed Ye Wushang’s arm. “Fine, I’ll buy it, all right?”
He checked his balance and then forced a smile. “Doctor Ye, I only have five million left in my account. I’ll have to raise the other five million.”
“How about I pay you a deposit now, and bring the rest by six this evening?”
Ye Wushang nodded. After the Hare Lord sent over another five million, he got into the taxi.
The Hare Lord was stunned. “Wait, Doctor Ye, I gave you the deposit—where’s the pill?”
“You said it yourself, that was a deposit. Until you pay in full, you don’t get the medicine.”
“When you have the rest, I’ll hand it over. You have my number—we’ll stay in touch.”
With that, Ye Wushang told the driver to go and sped off.
“That man is ruthless,” the Hare Lord sighed.
“Raises the price on the spot, takes the money but withholds the medicine.”
“Why do I feel like a child being played by him?”
He shook his head, not daring to linger, and hurried back to raise the rest of the money.
