Volume One, Chapter Five: Blood for Blood!
Meanwhile, on the other end, Butler He answered the phone. “Young Master, is the Young Mistress feeling better? I’ll come over to pick her up right away.”
Fu Mingyue’s brow furrowed even more deeply. “You come to the hospital’s underground parking to pick up Susu.”
“I…” Li Susu wanted to say something.
Fu Mingyue interrupted, “You’re still injured. Go home and rest first.”
“Go home?” Li Susu hesitated, “My… my home isn’t in Yun City.”
“What are you thinking? Come back to our home. I’ve already signed the divorce papers with Ji Yunti. Once the formalities are done, we’ll get married immediately.”
Li Susu blushed deeply. “I never said I wanted to marry you! And what about you and Yunti? How could she agree to divorce you? She likes you so much. Did you give her a lot of compensation?”
Fu Mingyue frowned. “I…”
“I’m not trying to pry into how you’re dividing assets. I just heard what Yunti said earlier—I’m worried that no matter how much you give her, it won’t help. Her mother is so wicked, she’ll definitely snatch everything away,” Li Susu explained with what seemed like sympathetic understanding.
Fu Mingyue’s eyes darkened in thought. “You have a point. That woman is cunning and shrewd. Although Ji Yunti isn’t exactly an angel, she’s still young and surely can’t outwit her mother.”
Li Susu immediately nodded. “Exactly. I remember Yunti lived in the countryside before marrying you. Judging by her attire, she’s still very rustic. She probably isn’t used to city life…”
“For her own good, you might as well send her back to the countryside. Give her some monthly living expenses, but not too much, or it will only cause her trouble.”
Fu Mingyue’s expression softened. “You’re so thoughtful, considering everything for her, but she’ll never appreciate it.”
Li Susu smiled helplessly. “I’m used to it by now.”
Fu Mingyue’s heart ached. “You’ve suffered a lot these years.”
“Beep.” The sound of a car horn interrupted them.
Soon, a Bentley pulled up.
Butler He stepped out in a formal manner. “Young Master, Miss Li.”
“You go back first,” Fu Mingyue said to Li Susu.
“No, I’ll go up with you. Yunti must still be angry with me. I have to apologize to her again, or I won’t feel at ease.”
Fu Mingyue’s eyes darkened with anger. “What right does she have to be angry?”
“Well…” Butler He hesitated and spoke up, “Perhaps I should wait for the Young Mistress here, and Young Master can personally send Miss Li back?”
“Mingyue?” Li Susu looked at Fu Mingyue hopefully. “If you don’t come with me, it feels awkward. Besides, going up now won’t help. It’s better to go back first and bring some stew to Yunti later.”
“All right, then I’ll send you back first.” Fu Mingyue couldn’t bear to see Li Susu in a difficult situation.
…
In the surgical ward, Ji Yunti lay on the hospital bed, her face pale as death.
“There are bone fragments inside. Surgery is necessary. Where are your family members? The operation requires a relative’s signature.”
“I can sign for myself.” Ji Yunti lifted her only functional left hand to indicate.
The doctor frowned. “But the surgery requires anesthesia, and you’ll need someone to accompany you afterward.”
“Then no anesthesia.” Ji Yunti said firmly. “I can endure the pain.”
The doctor was stunned but recalled that she hadn’t once cried out during the wound examination and sighed. “Alright, if you’re sure.”
“I’m sure.” Ji Yunti looked serious.
The doctor then instructed the nurse to arrange the surgery immediately.
After the operation, Ji Yunti was sweating cold sweat from the pain but didn’t utter a single moan or move her hand.
The medical staff often thought she had fainted from the pain, but each time they checked, she remained calm, almost inhuman!
Little did they know, for Ji Yunti, this pain was a hundred times less than the torment of having her eyes gouged out by the ghosts swallowing her.
She would remember this pain well because one day she would repay it tooth for tooth, blood for blood!
“It’s done.” The doctor took off the bloodied gloves, his eyes filled with admiration.
Ji Yunti took a slow breath. “What about the wound on my forehead…”
“We treated it again, but you must avoid infection to prevent scarring.”
Scarring! Ji Yunti’s eyes flickered. Just then, a tall figure strode through the ward door.
“Yunti.”
Ji Yunti stiffened. Her heart, which she thought would never stir again, tightened sharply.
She slowly raised her head…
And saw her elder brother Ji Yunfan standing by the door—the very relative who had deceived her onto the operating table and had her eyes gouged out alive.
She once believed her big brother would always protect her, but just because Li Susu suddenly lost her sight, he had tricked her into the hospital.
If Fu Mingyue gouged out her eyes, it was at least within her expectations.
But Ji Yunfan’s betrayal caught her completely off guard.
Ji Yunfan’s gaze now rested on the wound on her forehead, impatience flashing in his eyes.
The doctor was somewhat surprised but said nothing more, reminding, “Now that family is here, please take good care of her.”
“Thank you, doctor. My sister is just too spoiled; she insists on surgery for such a small injury. Sorry for the trouble.” Ji Yunfan spoke politely, then looked at Ji Yunti with disapproval. “What’s this, still holding grudges after being hit by Mom once?”
The doctor was puzzled. This injury was no minor thing! But since they were discussing family matters, he excused himself and left with the nurse.
Ji Yunfan sat down but took out his phone and opened a certain social media app, showing it to Ji Yunti. “Mom’s temper was a bit rash, but you didn’t have to use the trending topic to deal with her like that. Yunti, you went too far this time!
Besides, Dad is at a critical stage of his promotion! Now you’re stirring up trouble at home? Yunti, you’re too willful. I’m really disappointed in you!”
Ji Yunti’s gaze fell on the phone screen—

“I didn’t do it.” Ji Yunti denied.
“If not you, then who?” Ji Yunfan retorted.
Ji Yunti didn’t know either, but she and Zhang Fangping had just argued not long ago, and the trending topic had surged to second place—clearly manipulated by someone.
“Yunfan.” Li Susu’s gentle voice came in.
Ji Yunfan paused and then looked toward the door with eyes full of surprise and delight. “Susu? You’re back?”
“Senior Brother Yunfan.” Li Susu smiled warmly. “You came to see Yunti. I’m truly sorry. She’s so badly hurt because of me. This is the soup I made myself. Yunti, I’m sorry.”
As she spoke the last words, Li Susu knelt down directly!
Ji Yunfan’s expression faltered, quickly helping Li Susu up.
Ji Yunti, however, looked at Li Susu thoughtfully.
“Get up!” Fu Mingyue strode in right after finishing a call, yanking Li Susu from Ji Yunfan’s grasp and glaring fiercely at Ji Yunti. “She doesn’t deserve it!”
“Mingyue, let go of me. It’s really my fault.” Li Susu looked full of remorse, opening the thermos and holding it out to Ji Yunti. “Yunti, please forgive me, okay?”
Ji Yunti glanced at Li Susu, then at the soup.
“Ji Yunti! Hurry and drink the soup! What more do you want from Susu?” Fu Mingyue warned impatiently.
Ji Yunti reached out and took the thermos.
Li Susu’s heart leapt with joy!
As long as Ji Yunti drank this soup, her wounds would repeatedly become inflamed, and scars would surely form on her forehead!
