Chapter 18: Sending Her Away
She waited at her workstation for a while. Since all her colleagues had left, she didn’t have to explain much.
Before long, she got into the car heading to Blue Mountain Villa.
It was her third time meeting Aunt Wang, so naturally, she felt much more at ease.
Aunt Wang helped nearby as Song Yin said, “This can’t go on—eating only one meal a day is definitely not enough.”
“The young lady is stubborn; she can’t be persuaded.”
Song Yin asked, “Even Third Master can’t convince her?”
“The young lady is actually afraid of him. But Third Master never speaks properly; if he tries to persuade her, it’ll probably just make her cry.”
Song Yin didn’t say much more and focused on her own tasks.
Today’s work finished quickly since the porridge had been prepared in advance.
Song Yin waited as usual, and soon Aunt Wang came downstairs, looking at her and saying, “The young lady ate a little. She really wants to see you.”
Song Yin was surprised and hesitated. “Are you sure she wants to see me? Is that okay?”
Aunt Wang nodded, “She definitely wants to see you. She’s not foolish; she knows someone else has been cooking these past few days, so she’s curious about who it is. It’s rare for her to take interest in outsiders, and I don’t want to disappoint her. As for Third Master, even if he finds out, it won’t matter.”
Song Yin was persuaded.
She followed Aunt Wang upstairs.
The décor was very European, similar in style to downstairs.
They reached a room’s door; Aunt Wang didn’t enter but stood at the doorway and said, “The young lady is here.”
“She can come in; you may leave.” The voice sounded somewhat old.
It was different from the voice Song Yin had imagined—something other than a teenage girl’s.
“I’ll just say a few words. Knowing the young lady’s temper, she’ll probably send you away quickly. I’ll wait downstairs.”
Song Yin nodded.
She pushed open the door.
Inside was an enormous pink princess bed, surrounded by decorations full of girlish charm, as if stepping into a fairy tale.
The attention to detail in the décor was obvious, contrasting sharply with Lou Yizhou’s cold and stern demeanor.
“Hello.”
Suddenly, someone jumped up close, startling Song Yin.
She took two steps back, nearly losing her balance, and immediately noticed the terrifying scar on the left side of the girl’s face.
Before her stood a tall girl in a pink nightgown, but she was very thin.
Her eyes held a trace of mockery as she looked at Song Yin. “Are you scared of me? Is it my appearance that frightened you?”
Song Yin steadied herself and replied calmly, “No matter who it is, jumping out like that would startle anyone.”
“Clever response. Don’t you think I’m ugly?”
“You mean the left side of your face?” Song Yin said, “I noticed it at first glance, but then my eyes were drawn to your refined right side. So is it half brightness, half sorrow?”
“You’re quite slick with your words.” Though she scoffed lightly, the mockery in her eyes had faded.
Song Yin smiled. “Miss, I’m telling the truth. Judging your beauty or ugliness just by a glance would be rude of me. At least I should treat your appearance with fairness, shouldn’t I?”
The girl appraised her, grabbed a pillow, and sat on the bed, still looking up at her. “Are you the woman my brother brought home?”
“Third Master is your brother?”
The girl laughed. “You don’t even know what our relationship is? I thought you and my brother were close. Turns out, he just hired a cook? No wonder he’d bring someone home so casually.”
Song Yin didn’t feel offended; she wasn’t inclined to hold malice toward a child.
She shrugged. “You can think of it that way—I did take Third Master’s money to cook a few meals for you.”
“Your cooking is average.”
Song Yin nodded. “Yes, just home-style dishes. Compared to the chefs in your household, it’s nothing.”
“But they taste very much like what I used to eat.”
The girl had beautiful eyes, now shadowed by a veil of melancholy.
Song Yin guessed this young lady might be eating because of some nostalgic flavor tied to a certain person. Yet she didn’t dare to mention it or ask.
“You really need to take care of your health, Miss. Skipping meals won’t do.”
“Who asked you to care?” The moment she was told what to do, the young lady’s spoiled nature immediately surfaced.
Song Yin quickly said, “Take it as me being nosy—I don’t have the nerve to boss you around.”
The girl was about to speak, but suddenly her expression stiffened, her eyes showing a flicker of fear.
Song Yin felt an unspoken pressure from behind.
Turning around, she heard the girl suddenly whimpering, “Brother, who allowed her to come into my room like this?”
She cried on cue—her acting was flawless.
Song Yin’s mind raced wildly.
Could it be she was part of some game between the siblings?
Lou Yizhou’s face was as cold as water as he strode in, grabbed Song Yin’s wrist, and forcefully pulled her away.
His pace was so swift that Song Yin struggled to keep up, almost falling.
Yet the man showed no mercy. Dragging her all the way out of the villa’s living room, he walked to a car in the courtyard, opened the door, and roughly shoved her inside.
Then, in a calm voice, he ordered, “Take her away!”
