Song Yin got into Lou Yizhou’s car again.

Although his claim that he was going to introduce her to a job was pure nonsense that no one would believe, she still climbed into his car without the slightest hesitation.

There was a faint sense that she had boarded a pirate ship, yet, unexpectedly, she did not regret it at all.

“Going to a hotel?” It was both a question and an invitation.

Song Yin smiled. “So the Third Master likes discussing work in hotels.”

Lou Yizhou said, “If Yinyin would rather go somewhere else, I can accommodate you.”

The space in the back seat was quiet and charged with ambiguity.

His words left ample room for the imagination.

Song Yin said nothing. She turned her head and remarked, “I was thinking, both times we’ve met, it’s rained. Do you suppose—”

The instant she finished speaking, raindrops began pelting the car window.

Song Yin froze, then turned toward Lou Yizhou in disbelief.

Lou Yizhou said mildly, “Yinyin, your words must be blessed.”

Song Yin could not help laughing.

It was a genuine laugh, straight from the heart.

Lou Yizhou watched her.

When she realized that his gaze had grown heated, she gradually stopped laughing.

Lou Yizhou stretched out his long arm and seized her by the nape. With an utterly domineering gesture, he drew her toward him.

When their foreheads touched, he suddenly stopped, their breaths mingling.

He stared at her as though waiting for her to beg.

He was truly wicked, with far too strong a desire to conquer.

Yet Song Yin indulged him.

She leaned forward and kissed him of her own accord.

It was no more than a fleeting touch, and she was about to draw back.

But his hand tightened around the back of her neck, forcing her to remain still. Then he took the initiative—but he did not kiss her.

His hand closed around her lips, and his index finger slipped between her teeth.

Song Yin moaned indistinctly, unable to speak, her saliva dampening Lou Yizhou’s jade-like finger.

He did not stop. Song Yin felt increasingly uncomfortable and grasped his arm, her eyes pleading for mercy.

He merely cast her a wicked glance, seeming to savor the expression on her face.

At last, he withdrew his finger and lowered his head toward her.

“Can’t take even that?”

His lips nearly brushed her ear, his breathing slightly heavier.

“I thought your professional abilities were much stronger.”

Song Yin refused to concede verbally. “You haven’t even given me room to show what I can do.”

Lou Yizhou gave a soft chuckle, took out a silk handkerchief, and wiped his hand. With evident amusement, he said, “I’m looking forward to it.”

Song Yin raised an eyebrow.

What followed was a period of waiting. She had no idea which hotel they would stop at.

Watching the rain outside and listening to its steady tapping, Song Yin thought it was utterly insane that she could go this far with a man she had met only three times in total.

But she had never been the sort to follow rules.

With a mother like Song Yulian, how could she possibly have grown up conventional?

The silence in the car lasted less than five minutes before a phone call shattered it.

A call had come in for Lou Yizhou.

“Third Master, Miss has a fever. She refuses to see a doctor or eat anything, and we can’t persuade her no matter what we do. We truly had no choice but to call you.”

“What are you all being paid for? You can leave tomorrow.”

“I’m sorry, Third Master. Perhaps Miss wants to see you.”

“I understand.”

Lou Yizhou hung up with an displeased expression.

As he gripped his phone, Song Yin spoke first. “Third Master, I wasn’t trying to eavesdrop. We’re simply sitting too close, so…”

Lou Yizhou looked over.

Song Yin quickly changed tack. “You can drop me by the roadside, Third Master. I can go home on my own.”

Lou Yizhou looked at her but said nothing.

Song Yin did not know whether she had said something wrong and did not dare speak again.

Lou Yizhou was the one in control. What happened was always up to him.

“Can you cook?”

“What?”

It took Song Yin two seconds to react. Then she nodded. “I can make a few simple dishes.”

“That will do.”

Lou Yizhou instructed the driver to go to Blue Mountain Villa, then turned to Song Yin and said, “I’ll be taking up some of your time. I can pay you accordingly. As a translator, how do you usually calculate your fee, Yinyin?”

Song Yin was just about to say that such a small matter was hardly worth mentioning, especially since she had not done anything yet.

But Lou Yizhou had already taken out his phone and was adding her as a contact.

“Really, there’s no need, Third Master. You helped me before, so we could just consider it—”

“One matter at a time. I like to keep accounts clear.”

His tone was mild, yet utterly firm.

Seeing that, Song Yin did not refuse. There was nothing shameful about earning money.

Once they had added each other, Lou Yizhou quickly sent her a transfer.

The amount was startling—a five-figure sum.

Song Yin teased him with a smile. “The Third Master is very generous. Did you include an overnight fee as well?”

Lou Yizhou asked, “So Yinyin, you’re that cheap?”

Song Yin was instantly at a loss for words.

Lou Yizhou seemed to realize that he had taken the joke too far and tried to salvage the situation. “I didn’t mean anything by it.”

Song Yin only smiled and shook her head. “It’s because the Third Master is generous. I really am quite cheap.”

With that, she accepted the transfer.

It was a shameless act of self-deprecation.

Even though she had made her meaning clear, Lou Yizhou still felt that he had indeed said the wrong thing.

How strange. Even a man who controlled the rules could feel guilty.
