“You don’t even have a boyfriend. Whose child are you carrying?” Gu Yao’s harsh voice carried a hint of losing control.

She rushed over, trying to snatch the plastic bag from her hands. “Gu Fangyu, have you been secretly seeing Chen Hao behind my back? Is the child his?”

“When did you two get involved again?”

Her accusations grew more outrageous by the moment.

As Gu Yao charged forward, Gu Fangyu’s face turned pale. Instinctively, she clutched the plastic bag tighter.

She would never admit that the bag contained a pregnancy test.

“Gu Yao, enough!” Gu Fangyu squeezed the bag tightly. “Don’t use your pregnancy mood swings as an excuse to be paranoid, suspecting everyone of having an affair with Xie Chenhao.”

Gu Fangyu took a deep breath, her nerves on edge, yet she forced a calm expression.

Seeing Gu Yao intimidated, she pressed harder: “What, are all the men in the world dead? Or is Xie Chenhao the greatest man alive, that every woman must flock to him to have his child?”

Gu Yao sneered, finally managing to speak after a long pause: “Gu Fangyu, do you dare say you’re not pregnant? That’s not a pregnancy test in the bag?”

All eyes turned to her.

Especially Gu Hanchen, whose deep black eyes narrowed, fixating on the bag in her hand.

Gu Fangyu felt her heart leap into her throat.

At that moment, Gu Yao lunged again, determined to tear off her false mask.

“Gu Yao, if you’re going crazy, don’t drag me into it!” Gu Fangyu dodged.

The two struggled in the hall, the scene turning chaotic.

Jiang Qi tried several times to intervene but was warded off by a look from Gu Fangyu.

Throughout, Gu Fangyu had to guard against Gu Yao snatching the bag and worry about her own belly—if she was truly pregnant, it was early, and she couldn’t withstand Gu Yao’s wild energy.

Distracted, Gu Fangyu got kicked hard in the calf.

She winced in pain, and as Gu Yao charged again, she instinctively stepped aside.

Gu Yao stumbled, nearly falling flat on her face.

Alarmed, Gu Fangyu panicked—Gu Yao was pregnant, after all. If something happened to the baby because of her, not only would Gu’s parents never forgive her, but Gu Hanchen would be the first to come down on her.

Quickly, Gu Fangyu reached out to steady her.

But at the same moment, a pair of large, sturdy hands grasped Gu Yao’s wrist first and gently pulled her into Gu Hanchen’s embrace.

“Brother, look at her, she’s clearly guilty,” Gu Yao said, regaining her footing in his arms and playing the victim.

Gu Fangyu’s heart jumped again.

If Gu Hanchen intervened, her little tricks wouldn’t fool him.

Jiang Qi took the opportunity to speak up: “Gu Yao, I think you have persecution complex, fighting over men with everyone you see.”

“Is Xie Chenhao really that prized?”

“You’re the only one treating him like treasure. A man who changes loyalties like the wind—once we’re done with him, we’re done, no second chance.”

Jiang Qi’s words stunned Gu Yao into silence.

“Open the bag,” a deep, calm voice broke through like a wave crashing over an already turbulent lake.

Gu Fangyu’s heart raced, her tightly held face betraying her nerves.

Gu Hanchen’s gaze slowly settled on her face. “If the bag doesn’t contain a pregnancy test, let Yao confirm it, and this matter will be over.”

Gu Fangyu clenched the plastic bag tighter, her pressed lips revealing her tension.

“Still too afraid to look?” The man seemed to see through her unease and pressed closer.

“Brother, let’s go to the hospital now,” Gu Yao suddenly snapped back to reality, grabbing Gu Fangyu’s hand. “Whether she’s pregnant or not, a check-up will tell.”

Gu Fangyu instinctively tried to shake off her hand.

“Gu Yao, even if I were pregnant, I have no obligation to prove anything to you,” she said resolutely, meeting Gu Hanchen’s probing gaze without flinching.

She knew if she didn’t play hardball, no one was clever enough to fool him.

She lifted her chin slightly. “I’m on my period, you know that.”

“Gu Fangyu, how would my brother know you’re on your period?”

Gu Fangyu ignored Gu Yao, focusing on Gu Hanchen instead. “That day, I didn’t realize my period had started and accidentally stained your car. The sanitary pads were delivered by Assistant Lin.”

She wasn’t sure how much Gu Hanchen believed.

At that moment, Xie Chenhao, who had been silent as the center of the controversy, finally spoke: “Fangyu couldn’t possibly be carrying my child. Over the years, she’s avoided any suspicion and wouldn’t have had any contact with me.”

“Gu Yao, I understand you’re hormonal and unstable in early pregnancy, but you shouldn’t suspect your own sister.”

While speaking, Xie Chenhao glanced briefly at Gu Fangyu, a flicker of concern in his eyes, but he quickly looked away.

Gu Yao watched him continue to defend Gu Fangyu, her anger rising.

Before she could erupt, Xie Chenhao said, “You said you weren’t feeling well. Let me accompany you upstairs to rest.”

Usually, Xie Chenhao’s concern was purely out of obligation, and though Gu Yao knew it was fake, fearing he might continue to pressure Gu Fangyu, she still felt happy.

She linked her arm with his, nestling in his embrace like a delicate bird. “Maybe the baby sensed my unhappiness and is being a little fussy.”

Gu Fangyu rolled her eyes. It was only a few months—just an embryo, not even formed yet. How could it cause any fuss?

At least they were gone now, and things quieted down.

But thinking of Gu Hanchen still there, her nerves tensed again.

She turned to see his dark, menacing face, like a predator ready to strike.

Jiang Qi, usually terrified of Gu Hanchen, stepped in front of Gu Fangyu boldly. “Master Gu, others may fear you, but I don’t.”

“Even if Yu Yu isn’t a member of the Gu family, is it her fault she was switched at birth? Gu Yao found her biological parents, but what about Yu Yu? Living as an outsider—is that what she wanted? Everyone pities Gu Yao and thinks Yu Yu enjoyed everything that should have belonged to her. But is that Yu Yu’s fault?”

“Everyone in the Gu family thinks Yu Yu owes them all this, but has anyone ever asked how Yu Yu feels? Just because Gu Yao returned, must everything be handed over to her? Even if it means disregarding Yu Yu and Xie Chenhao’s relationship and forcing them apart?”

“Fine, she broke up—completely and cleanly. Now you want to doubt her again? How can you even face her?”

“She owes you nothing. If we’re talking about gratitude for raising her, Yu Yu has been filial and self-sacrificing all these years. It’s time that debt was repaid.”

“You have no right to guilt-trip her!”
