Volume One, Chapter 18: The Third Law, The Law’s Fruition
“Such a pity for my Chaos Gourd. Among the seven great gourds combined, none possess the attribute of the Greater Yin. Otherwise, absorbing this Greater Yin energy would have been a worthwhile gain.”
Clearly, the harvest on the Greater Yin Star was far less bountiful than on the Sun Star, though Lin Yang had anticipated this.
As he ventured deeper, although the celestial treasures and rare materials he collected were more advanced and precious, the cold grew increasingly dreadful.
At Lin Yang’s current location, anyone short of a Grand Dao Golden Immortal entering here would likely perish silently and without a trace.
The Greater Yin Star was more sinister and terrifying compared to the Sun Star.
The fire on the Sun Star was obvious and visible, but the cold on the Greater Yin Star silently infiltrated one’s being.
Whether body or soul, it numbed you gradually until, in the end, ignorance and insensitivity would freeze you solid.
And once frozen, death usually followed.
Lin Yang had reached such depths of the Greater Yin Star that even a Grand Dao Golden Immortal might freeze to death here, indicating he had arrived at the star’s very core.
Yet, at this depth, Lin Yang still found little of value.
No sight of the Laurel tree. No trace of Wang Shu, Xi He, or Chang Xi.
As for innate spiritual treasures, those were beyond imagination.
“Phew!”
Lin Yang exhaled, his breath instantly crystallizing into frost. He halted, no longer pressing onward.
With a thought, the twelve layers of the Heavens, suspended behind his head and merged into the void, trembled suddenly.
Then, the twelve layers of the Heavens transformed into twelve figures surrounding Lin Yang.
These twelve figures resembled Lin Yang closely, sharing eight or nine similarities in appearance.
They were clearly his incarnations—the Twelve Heavenly Incarnations.
When forging the Twelve Heavens, Lin Yang had used his primordial spirit and essence blood as sacrificial materials.
In the process, the Twelve Heavens also became his own avatars.
This was another way to utilize the Twelve Heavens.
Previously, Randing had used twenty-four Stabilizing Dragon Pearls to forge twenty-four Heavens in a similar manner.
His twenty-four Heavens could transform into twenty-four heavenly generals as protectors.
Lin Yang’s Twelve Heavenly Incarnations were not much different, possessing a similar profound subtlety.
---
Once the Twelve Heavens transformed into incarnations, Lin Yang naturally lost the power boost from the Twelve Heavens.
His magical strength instantly diminished greatly.
However, these twelve incarnations scattered around him subtly formed a formation—the Twelve Heavens Grand Formation.
Lin Yang had them form this great array to serve as his protective barrier.
He then sat cross-legged within the formation.
“Since other treasures are rare and elusive, I shall focus on comprehending the Greater Yin energy, its methods, and principles here,” Lin Yang murmured to himself.
Coming to the Greater Yin Star only to gather some celestial treasures and leave left him somewhat dissatisfied.
As the place of utmost Yin in the world, cultivating here, especially in such profound depths suffused with the purest Greater Yin energy, held great promise.
Lin Yang intended to immerse himself thoroughly, hoping to add another fundamental principle to his repertoire.
So, inside the Twelve Heavens formation, Lin Yang sat cross-legged on the ground.
After a moment, a radiance flashed from the crown of his head.
His primordial spirit manifested, still taking the form of the Innate Gourd Vine.
Upon it, a small fiery red gourd had taken shape, alongside several tiny blossoms.
This fiery red gourd radiated intense heat, symbolizing Lin Yang’s Dao Fruit — a manifestation of his understanding of the Fire Principle, a major universal law.
The other blossoms represented principles he had touched upon but not yet mastered, including the Five Elements, Yin and Yang, the stars, and so forth.
If Lin Yang could comprehend the Greater Yin Principle, another gourd—this time a Greater Yin Gourd—would appear on the vine.
This was a unique trait of Lin Yang’s Innate Gourd Vine origin: his Dao Fruit could manifest visibly on his primordial spirit.
Of course, if he wished, he could alter his primordial spirit’s appearance, hiding the blossoms and Dao Fruit as he pleased.
Ultimately, this was merely a way for him to manifest his Dao Fruit.
It should be noted that although the Fire Principle Dao Fruit was Lin Yang’s own, it was not the same as the Dao Fruits often mentioned in the primordial world—such as the Golden Immortal Dao Fruit, Taiyi Dao Fruit, Grand Dao Fruit, or Chaos Dao Fruit—all of which referred to cultivation realms.
Lin Yang’s manifested Dao Fruit indicated only his progress in a certain fundamental universal law.
Above Lin Yang’s head, a cluster of auspicious clouds roughly half an acre in size formed, upon which the gourd vine primordial spirit rested, half-hidden and radiating profound aura.
This scene marked Lin Yang’s entering into a meditative state as he pondered the great Dao and its principles.
The Greater Yin Star was utterly silent, not a sound to be heard.
---
Here, at the very depths of the Greater Yin Star, even living beings seemed absent.
Only Lin Yang remained, accompanied by his twelve incarnations.
Everything felt cold and desolate.
Lin Yang sat cross-legged motionless for an unknown length of time. Whether he had comprehended the Greater Yin Principle remained unclear.
Then, suddenly, a change occurred.
A strand of mysterious energy emerged from Lin Yang’s body—an extremely icy aura.
It was the Greater Yin energy.
Though Greater Yin energy was abundant on this star, this strand did not drift in from the surroundings.
It originated from within Lin Yang himself.
What did this signify? It meant Lin Yang had comprehended the Greater Yin Principle—or at least entered its gateway—enabling him to manifest this Greater Yin energy.
Sure enough, as more of this Greater Yin energy appeared around Lin Yang’s body, it multiplied into hundreds, thousands, and countless strands, converging into a swirling current enveloping him.
“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!”
Suddenly, the Twelve Heavens Grand Formation no longer blocked the infiltration of the surrounding Greater Yin energy.
The surging Greater Yin energy was drawn in by Lin Yang, streaming continuously into his body.
Not only his physical form but also his primordial spirit atop the auspicious clouds absorbed the energy.
Gradually, a blossom resembling an ice crystal bloomed on the gourd vine primordial spirit, its radiance intensifying.
Then, it dimmed and the petals withered, replaced by a small black gourd.
Like the fiery red gourd of the Fire Principle, this new tiny black gourd symbolized the Greater Yin Principle.
It was Lin Yang’s Dao Fruit in the Greater Yin Principle—a sign of his achievement in this fundamental law.
“Finally made it!”
At this moment, even Lin Yang felt a surge of joy and opened his eyes.
After absorbing sufficient Greater Yin energy, he ceased.
The gourd vine primordial spirit retracted, the auspicious clouds dissipated, and as he rose, the twelve incarnations vanished, reforming into the Twelve Heavens hovering behind his head.
Lin Yang stood silently for a moment, then suddenly smiled and said, “Fellow Daoist watching secretly, you have observed me for quite some time. Perhaps it is time to show yourself?”
