Volume One, Chapter 15: Inventorying the Spoils and Extracting the Essence

The Ancestral Dragon was not incapable of accepting defeat. It was Lin Yang’s potential that troubled him.
One of the Ten Great Spiritual Roots had taken human form. Such a powerful existence, further armed with a Primordial Treasure—there was no doubt that, in time, Lin Yang would grow into someone capable of directly contending with him.
In other words, there was a very good chance that Lin Yang would eventually advance to become a Primordial Golden Immortal.
And when that happened, a Primordial Golden Immortal Lin Yang, possessing a Primordial Treasure as well—just thinking about it gave the Ancestral Dragon a headache.
“The best course would still be to eliminate him before he becomes a Primordial Golden Immortal. Moreover, if that Primordial Treasure falls into my hands, then the Primordial Phoenix and the Primordial Qilin will be much easier to deal with.”
Countless thoughts flashed through the Ancestral Dragon’s mind.
This incident was destined to be merely the beginning. If Lin Yang appeared again in the future, the Ancestral Dragon would certainly be the first to act, doing everything possible to kill him before he advanced to the Primordial Golden Immortal realm.
At the same time, the Primordial Treasure Lin Yang possessed filled him with covetous desire.
If he could obtain a Primordial Treasure, it might very well change the current balance among the Three Clans.
…
Lin Yang did not know that the Ancestral Dragon had set his sights on him and intended to personally capture him the next time he appeared, but he had already anticipated such a possibility.
After all, if he were in the Ancestral Dragon’s position and knew that such a powerful being with immense potential existed—and might even possess a Primordial Treasure—he certainly would not remain idle.
After leaving the Sun Star, Lin Yang had originally intended to go to the Taiyin Star. However, he had just fought the Dragon Emperor of War. Though his injuries were not serious—in fact, they could be considered light—the battle had still consumed a great deal of his strength.
The strike from the Immortal-Slaying Flying Knife had ensured that he did not have to pay too great a price for victory.
Even so, he needed to recover before doing anything else.
In addition, most of the nine Primordial Venomous Dragons had been crippled in the battle.
Lin Yang also needed to inspect them, lest the beasts he intended to use as carriage-pullers suffer permanent damage.
Furthermore, after killing the Dragon Emperor of War, although his primordial spirit had been directly destroyed by the Immortal-Slaying Flying Knife, his physical body had remained intact.
Now that Lin Yang had also obtained the Creation Cauldron, he could put that body to some use.
In short, this venture had carried tremendous risks, but it had also brought equally tremendous rewards.
Only after flying across hundreds of billions of miles of starry space did Lin Yang find an inconspicuous minor star.
He set up a concealment formation, hid himself within it, and began healing his wounds.
No one knew how much time passed before Lin Yang recovered completely from the injuries he had suffered in the battle.
The energy he had expended was naturally replenished as well, and he once again reached a state of unprecedented peak condition.
Although the battle had been dangerous and humiliatingly difficult, his gains had been immense.
Aside from the various spoils of war and the system’s rewards, the most important gain was the tremendous increase in his combat experience.
The Dragon Emperor of War had endured countless battles throughout his existence. Fighting him had indeed taught Lin Yang a great deal.
However, while Lin Yang’s own injuries had healed, when he inspected the nine Primordial Venomous Dragons, he discovered that six of them were still gravely wounded.

The Dragon Emperor of War had shown no mercy at the end. Every Primordial Venomous Dragon he had sent flying had suffered severe injuries.
Even after recuperating for so long, they had made little progress.
After taking a look, Lin Yang came up with a plan. He cultivated the Way of Creation, so healing these Primordial Venomous Dragons would be easy enough, though it would also consume a considerable amount of his own vital essence.
Fortunately, Lin Yang now had a compromise.
He took out the Creation Cauldron and brought over the Dragon Emperor of War’s body, including its dragon head.
At that moment, the Dragon Emperor of War’s body had returned to its true form: the enormous body of a headless azure dragon.
After examining it, Lin Yang went to work. With a wave of his hand, he dismantled the azure dragon, separating all kinds of useful parts. Every one of them was excellent material for refining weapons and treasures in the future.
Lin Yang intended to use its dragon tendons to refine a divine whip someday. Its power would certainly be extraordinary.
The dragon’s scales could also be used to make armor, and would serve splendidly.
The two enormous dragon horns, each of its dragon claws, and several extremely hard bones were all worth preserving as well.
In addition, Lin Yang kept some dragon flesh, along with the dragon liver, dragon heart, and other organs.
Naturally, he intended to taste them when he had the opportunity.
If the Ancestral Dragon learned of Lin Yang’s plans, he would surely be furious enough to die.
Throughout the entire prehistoric world, there was probably no one else as audacious as Lin Yang.
It was not that others lacked the courage to kill or eat dragons, but Lin Yang was unquestionably the first to butcher and eat the Ancestral Dragon.
Even if this was merely one of the Ancestral Dragon’s incarnations, the fact remained.
Besides dismantling the body into various materials and ingredients, Lin Yang also collected the remaining flesh and the blood that had flowed from it.
He put everything into the Creation Cauldron.
Then he ignited the True Sun Flame and began refining it.
Under the searing blaze of the True Sun Flame, all kinds of impurities were burned away from the azure dragon’s body.
Only its essence remained.
In the end, nothing was left in the Creation Cauldron except a mass of azure-red liquid.
This liquid was the essence of the azure dragon’s body—or, more precisely, its vital blood essence.
It could, for the time being, be called the Ancestral Dragon’s Blood Essence.
Lin Yang had refined nearly the entire azure dragon body to its utmost limit before producing this mass of blood essence.
At this point, the refining process had come to an end.
Lin Yang raised a finger, and nine drops separated from the mass of blood essence.

One drop after another floated out of the Creation Cauldron. In an instant, an intensely rich fragrance filled every corner of the Chaotic Gourd.
The Primordial Venomous Dragons immediately became invigorated when they caught the scent.
Their eyes filled with longing as they gazed at the drops of blood essence.
This was the Ancestral Dragon’s Blood Essence.
Although, strictly speaking, they were not members of the dragon clan, they nonetheless possessed the form of dragons.
The benefits and temptation this blood essence held for them were self-evident.
“Go!”
Lin Yang waved his hand, sending the nine drops of blood essence flying toward the nine Primordial Venomous Dragons. Each dragon eagerly swallowed one.
Immediately afterward, the Primordial Venomous Dragons let out resounding roars.
Having swallowed the Ancestral Dragon’s Blood Essence, they instantly gained tremendous benefits.
The blood within their bodies seemed to evolve.
Their originally dark-red scales now took on a faint azure hue.
Their dragon horns, claws, and other parts also underwent subtle changes.
But this was only the beginning. Once they completely refined the Ancestral Dragon’s Blood Essence, its true benefits would reveal themselves.
The Ancestral Dragon was, after all, the foremost divine dragon of the prehistoric world and the progenitor of the dragon clan. Even the blood of one of his incarnations represented an unimaginable opportunity for other living beings.
Lin Yang paid no attention to the nine Primordial Venomous Dragons as they wailed and roared. He let them digest the blood essence on their own.
Then he waved his hand, and the final portion of the Ancestral Dragon’s Blood Essence remaining in the Creation Cauldron flew out as well.
On closer inspection, Lin Yang’s mass of blood essence was somewhat different.
Aside from its azure-red color, it was also surrounded by a faint silvery-white radiance.
That silvery-white radiance was the power of a certain Great Dao law.
The power of space!
It turned out that the Ancestral Dragon’s incarnation had been especially skilled in the laws of space.
Even the structure of its body contained a tremendous amount of spatial power.
Thus, while extracting its blood essence, Lin Yang had extracted that spatial power as well.
“The power of space. The power of space. Now all the conditions for refining the Twelve Heavens are complete!”
As Lin Yang gazed at the Ancestral Dragon’s Blood Essence before him, his thoughts stirred.
Twelve beads radiating five-colored light appeared in front of him.
They were the twelve Sea-Calming Divine Pearls.
