Chapter Thirty-Four: Contradictions
At one o'clock in the afternoon, while Yin Nian was having lunch at home, she received a call from a local police officer.
The officer informed her that they had discovered new clues regarding Zhou Yi's death and requested that she come to the station to verify them. When asked when she would be available, Yin Nian replied that she could arrive by two o'clock.
After hanging up, Yin Nian prepared to leave, only to notice her parents watching her in silence.
"Going out again?" her father asked with concern. "You’ve barely started your meal..."
"I have no choice; the matter hasn't been resolved yet."
"Isn't it all over?" her father asked, puzzled.
"There is still a chance to appeal—" Yin Nian stopped mid-sentence, recalling Yan Ming's instructions.
"Sigh... when will this ever end?"
It turned out that Lin Nuannuan had seen him clutching his forehead, his brows and the corners of his eyes drooping, clearly indicating that the journey had been far from comfortable.
Then, Chu Xiangsi walked straight past him, headed behind him, and scooped the infant from the red-clad man's arms, gently patting the baby's back and cooing to it.
Sun Ce pushed open the door, which gave a faint, creaking sound. Immediately after, a very subtle noise drifted from within.
The captain of the Imperial Guard retrieved the two items, wiped them clean with a handkerchief, wrapped them up, and tucked them into his robes. As for Yu Kui, like the other palace servants who had died for their crimes, he was dragged off to the mass grave, where vicious hounds awaited him.
Five days had already passed. She couldn't help but wonder if Qi Yao had received word of her disappearance. She didn't know what methods Murong Fei had used this time to shift all the blame onto Prince Wei, nor if Qi Yao would be able to guess her whereabouts.
Another sharp whistle pierced the air, and the man’s ruthless expression inevitably betrayed a hint of anxiety.
She did not know when she would be able to return from this journey. She wanted the Lin estate to remain safe; she wanted Lin Peng and Xue Mingzhu to be well.
Her hands began to tremble uncontrollably, and tears burst forth without warning, like a dam breaking under pressure.
As she spoke, Yang Yue'er finally broke down into sobs. Her heart was entirely tethered to Ye Feng, and she had braved the underworld to find him, never imagining that she would encounter such a scene.
"Barring any accidents, even if Yun Zhongzi obtains the Saint's throne, he will be unable to refine it in the short term. Even if he succeeds by some stroke of luck, the Master should have a way to extract it. Thus, the Primordial Violet Qi shall still be mine," Guang Chengzi thought to himself, his eyes glinting with ambition.
Seeing Tian Mo speak this way, Feng Le sighed internally. Although his own Dragon-Phoenix Dou Qi was still circulating in alternating currents, he could clearly perceive the degree of exhaustion within his meridians.
At the same time, in the center of Lin Yu’s spirit sea, a miniature version of himself sat in a meditative posture, his expression solemn, yet a sinister black mist slowly swirled around him.
Feng Le spoke, unleashing two forces from his hands. They intertwined and surged toward the pale green giant.
"Not going." The first to answer was Dynasty Lu Bu; he was too busy grinding mobs to be bothered with anything else.
"Attack... now?" But before the leader wearing the eagle mask could give the order, they saw several figures dart out from another direction, rushing toward the boss with lightning speed.
Meanwhile, the other five Dragon clan experts brandished their weapons and moved to the sides, intending to trap Ye Canxue.
"Brother Dao, your dagger looks just like ours. Why do you say ours are failures while yours is the King of Daggers?" Frog asked in confusion.
The next day, Dai Yunni led all the students toward Lanting County. Since everyone had reached the Earth Realm, they didn't travel on foot; instead, to return to the academy sooner, they flew on their swords.
Seeing this, Ling Yun felt a stir in his heart and thought to himself, "It seems all seven treasures of the Immortal Mansion have emerged." With that, he began to carefully examine the five newly appeared artifacts.
