Five minutes later, Cha Cha finished eating and slid down from the chair. As Aunt Wang carried her upstairs, she glanced at Gu Nanxu's plate and shook her head.

"Wasting food is a very bad habit."

Gu Nanxu was silent for a moment, then took two or three more bites before standing up to go upstairs and change clothes. He had a commercial shoot today.

With Aunt Wang's help, Cha Cha put on a small green cotton jacket, bundled up like a little ball, her tiny paws barely sticking out. Her hair was styled beautifully.

Aunt Wang pinched Cha Cha's little cheeks. Whether it was just her imagination or not, she felt Cha Cha’s face looked much fairer and more delicate than when she first came to the house, resembling an adorable little dumpling.

Aunt Wang took a small handbag from the cabinet and packed it with plenty of snacks and candies, just in case Cha Cha got hungry.

Cha Cha obediently sat on the sofa with her little bag on her back. When Aunt Wang finished tidying up, Cha Cha tilted her head and softly said, “Thank you, Aunt Wang~”

Then she puckered her lips to give her a kiss, flashing a sweet smile.

Aunt Wang’s heart melted. She unwrapped a candy, fed it to Cha Cha, then placed a small water bottle into the bag and reminded her, “Miss is going to the gentleman’s company. If he’s too busy to take care of you, just take something from the bag to eat.”

Cha Cha’s cheeks puffed out with the candy inside as she mumbled, “I don’t know.”

Outside, the car honked once. Aunt Wang held Cha Cha’s hand and sent her into the car. Just as she reached the living room door, the second young master hurried down the stairs.

“What’s wrong, second young master?”

Gu Nanxu asked anxiously, “Where’s Cha Cha?”

“Miss just left, went to the company to find the gentleman. What happened? If you call her back now, it’s still not too late.”

Gu Nanxu’s tone softened. “It’s nothing. If she’s gone, then let it be.”

Back in his room, he rolled up his sleeves. The arms once scarred and marked were now smooth and flawless, with no trace of bumps or indentations to the touch.

His phone rang. It was his agent, saying the car had arrived downstairs and he could head out.

Gu Nanxu put away his thoughts, lowered his sleeves, and strode toward the door.

Meanwhile,

Cha Cha was dropped off at the company’s entrance. She craned her neck as high as she could but still couldn’t see the top of the towering building. Wearing thick clothes, she nearly toppled backward trying to look up.

The driver quickly steadied her and was about to escort her inside when his phone rang. After hanging up, his face showed hesitation.

“Miss, there’s an emergency at my home. I’m afraid I can’t take you upstairs.”

Cha Cha clung to the driver’s sleeve, half understanding his words.

“Go to the reception and tell the lady there that you’re from the Gu family, looking for Mr. Gu. Someone will take you up.”

“Okay, I understand.” Cha Cha glanced at the young lady at the front desk and nodded firmly. Then she decisively let go, walking briskly toward the entrance, despite the driver’s worried look.

As soon as Cha Cha stepped inside, she felt a little overwhelmed. People bustled past, and this was a completely unfamiliar world to her.

She looked back but no longer saw the driver’s figure. Gritting her teeth, she started searching for the young lady the driver had mentioned.

Gently tugging the woman’s sleeve, she timidly said, “Hello, sister, can you take me to see Mr. Gu?”

Gu Xinyue had just hung up the phone, feeling annoyed. When she looked down and saw a little girl pulling on her sleeve, she immediately grew angry.

She shook off the girl’s hand and snapped, “Who do you think you are, little brat? How dare you pull on my clothes? Do you know how expensive this outfit is? It would take buying out your entire family to pay for it!”

Cha Cha trembled but still politely said, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to.”

Feeling a bit wronged, she had been waving her hands trying to get the lady’s attention, but being so short, she went unnoticed. So she had just lightly tugged the sleeve.

Folding her hands behind her back, Cha Cha nervously said, “Sister, the driver said I’m from the Gu family. I’m here to find Mr. Gu.”

Gu Xinyue scoffed coldly. “Gu family? Since when do we have another miss? Are you trying to say you’re Gu Yan’s daughter?”

“Yes, yes,” Cha Cha nodded repeatedly.

Gu Xinyue covered her mouth to laugh, her eyes full of contempt. “What a joke. So young and already learned to lie. I wonder how your parents raised you. Probably just looking to leech off the Gu family’s wealth.”

“Listen up, little brat, there’s only one miss in the Gu family—me.”

When she first found out her identity after transmigrating, Gu Xinyue had basked in pride for a long time.

She had once been an ordinary office worker, never imagining she would become a lady of a prominent family, with money that could last ten lifetimes.

Thinking of this, Gu Xinyue rolled her eyes disdainfully at Cha Cha. Who did she think she was, coming to scam the Gu family? Didn’t she know her place?

Gu Xinyue’s harsh words echoed through the lobby, drawing the attention of everyone present.

“I… I’m not lying…” Cha Cha was at a loss, looking around as people whispered and pointed at her.

Unable to speak, she could only shake her head, trembling all over.

Gu Xinyue pushed the little bundle hard, and Cha Cha fell to the floor with a thud, the pain bringing tears to her eyes.

“Security, throw this wild brat out!”

“Who dares!”

Cha Cha blinked up at the tall, upright figure in a black suit approaching her—it was Gu Yan.

She wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes and sniffled quietly.

This uncle didn’t smile at all; he looked very stern. If he saw her crying, he would surely be angry.

Gu Yan looked down at Cha Cha, her nose and eyes red, bundled like a dumpling on the floor. He bent down and lifted her up.

“Gu Xinyue, did you come to the company just to bully my daughter?”

His sharp gaze pierced Gu Xinyue, startling her. She forced a smile and said, “I had no idea you had a daughter.”

Gu Yan’s lips curled slightly, a hint of mockery in his voice. “When Dad was lying on his deathbed, you were out shopping for bags. Not knowing I had a daughter is normal.”

After speaking, he glanced at the empty reception desk and told Secretary Li to check. If Gu Xinyue was absent without reason, she was to be fired.

He shot a cold glance at Gu Xinyue and said, “Are you leaving on your own, or should I have you removed?”

Gu Xinyue’s face darkened. “Brother, I’m your biological sister.”

“If you weren’t, you would already be thrown out.”

Gu Yan carried Cha Cha into the elevator. Through his broad shoulders, Cha Cha saw Gu Xinyue’s scowling face and shrank back.

That sister was very fierce.

Gu Yan weighed Cha Cha in his arms and asked expressionlessly, “How can you be so foolish? You even mistook people.”

Cha Cha fiddled with her fingers and bowed her head, mumbling gloomily, “I’m sorry. Did I cause trouble for uncle? I thought that sister would take me upstairs to find you.”

“That’s not your sister. She’s your aunt.”

Cha Cha felt Gu Yan’s grip tighten suddenly. She was about to look back but was already set down.

“Secretary Li, take her to my office.”

Looking down at the little green dumpling, he tugged her braid. “Stay put in the office and wait for me. Once I’m done, I’ll take you to register your household.”

With that, he hurried off toward the conference room.

He had been in a meeting when the driver messaged saying Cha Cha had arrived downstairs. After waiting a long time without seeing her, he paused the meeting to go find her.

Unexpectedly, the little bundle had been bullied by Gu Xinyue. Thinking of Gu Xinyue’s haughty demeanor, Gu Yan’s gaze darkened.

Secretary Li brought Cha Cha to a sofa in the office to sit. When Gu Yan left, curiosity got the better of her; she touched here and there until suddenly her hand hurt.

She opened her palm and saw a bruise, sighing sadly, “I wish it could heal faster. It’s hard to eat with a hurt hand.”

Just as she thought this, her hand began to itch. She scratched it absentmindedly. “Why is my hand itchy? Am I going to grow another hand?!”

Startled by her own words, Cha Cha looked closely. The bruise was fading, surrounded by a faint white glow.

“Huh?”

Watching this, she reached out her other hand, thinking, “Hand, get better quickly,” and saw the same white light appear. Soon, the bruise vanished entirely.

!

Cha Cha burst into tears, crying out loud, “Waaah! I’m a monster!”
