Chapter Fourteen: A Snake in the Tent
“Mu You, you traitor! How dare you help an outsider bully me! You’re a traitor!”
After the fierce struggle just now, Mu Wei’en didn’t dare to lash out at the formidable Jin Yiyi, so she vented all her anger on Mu You instead.
“I’m not!” Mu You bravely defended herself.
They were all teammates on the show and should unite, help each other, and live in harmony. She didn’t want anyone to get hurt.
If Jin Yiyi wanted to harm Mu Wei’en, she would also step in to stop it!
But no matter how she explained, Mu Wei’en refused to listen.
“You’re so heartless! You started cheating first. If Mu You hadn’t helped, I might have really gotten hurt!”
“You did something wrong and should apologize to both of us!”
Jin Yiyi spoke up for Mu You, but seeing Mu Wei’en’s stubbornness and refusal to apologize, she grew angry and took out her children’s smartwatch with a phone function, intending to call the police to have Mu Wei’en taken away.
“Stop, stop, stop!” Wu Liang returned from dinner and found chaos unfolding.
He hurried over to stop Jin Yiyi from dialing 911.
“Oh, my little darling, if there’s a problem, solve it by talking! You’ve been in the entertainment industry a long time; don’t you know that calling the police affects both parties and the whole production a lot?”
“Besides, you’re all kids. Even if the police come, it won’t help!”
Since Jin Yiyi was the guest with the second most fans and highest popularity after Mu Wei’en, who had a powerful family backing, Wu Liang treated her very well.
“I wanted to talk it out, but she started it and even tried to hurt me with a fork!” Jin Yiyi pouted, unwilling to let Mu Wei’en off easily.
But she didn’t really dare to call the police; she just wanted to scare her and teach her a lesson.
“Ahem, Yiyi…” Wu Liang approached and whispered something to Jin Yiyi.
“All right, all right. After dinner, let’s head back early to rest! Tomorrow we’re going deep into the jungle to film, so we need to be well-rested!”
After saying a few more words, he left.
Jin Yiyi glared at Mu Wei’en, but her clenched fists slowly relaxed.
In the end, she turned and walked away.
“What did the director say to make you lose your temper so quickly?” Lin Zimu’s teammate asked, puzzled.
“Whatever he said, we just shouldn’t provoke Mu Wei’en anymore. If you can’t beat her, why not just avoid her?” Lin Zimu replied.
Just then, they saw Mu Wei’en venting her anger on Mu You.
“You side with outsiders? If you like them so much, then go eat with them!”
“All this delicious food on the table is mine. Don’t even think about taking any!”
Mu Wei’en monopolized all the food, refusing to let Mu You get near.
“The food was earned by both of us and should be shared. What you’re doing isn’t right,” Mu You tried reasoning with her.
But Mu Wei’en wasn’t the type to listen to reason.
“Xiao You, come eat with us!” Jin Yiyi waved at Mu You.
After the earlier scuffle, she considered the righteous Mu You a friend.
“Yeah, Youbao, it tastes better when we eat together!” Lin Zimu warmly invited her.
Mu You thanked them and went to the table, picking up two plates of food to leave.
“What are you doing? Didn’t you hear me? You’re not allowed to touch this food!” Mu Wei’en snapped angrily.
“This food belongs to the whole team. If you won’t share with me, then I’ll just take my rightful half!” Mu You retorted fearlessly.
What’s hers, she would take all; what’s not hers, she wouldn’t take a bite more than she deserved.
“The half should be three plates. You can’t carry that much, Youbao. I’ll help you!” Lin Zimu, loving the drama, ran over, grabbed the biggest plate of roasted lamb chops, and sprinted away.
Mu Wei’en looked at the nearly empty table and was about to lose it.
But when she looked up, she met Jin Yiyi’s fierce, leopard-like gaze and was instantly intimidated into silence.
“Hmph! I’ll enjoy eating alone even more!”
“Pfft!” Jin Yiyi withdrew her gaze and cheerfully invited everyone to sit down.
“Now we have eight dishes and one soup. This is truly a feast!”
“All thanks to Yiyi!” someone said.
Jin Yiyi waved her hand like a big sister, then raised her cup with heartfelt sincerity.
“But we should really thank Xiao You. Without her, we wouldn’t have gathered, nor tasted these delicious lamb chops!”
“Come on, I propose a toast to Xiao You! I’ll drink first in her honor.”
Jin Yiyi boldly downed her cup of milk.
“To Xiao You!”
Everyone followed suit, raising their cups and drinking heartily.
Their warmth was almost overwhelming to Mu You.
So this is how it feels to get along with peers — joyful and comforting.
“The atmosphere with these kids is so much better. But they really shouldn’t be glued to their phones all the time. Look what kind of kids they’re becoming! Drinking that Wangzai milk like it’s some kind of sworn brotherhood ceremony!” a crew member commented.
“Yeah, but unfortunately, they’re too young to understand the harshness of society. If clips like this get online, they might edit it to make it seem like the five kids are isolating the Mu family’s heiress. Those poor kids would get cyberbullied!” another crew member worried.
If not for life’s pressures, who would begrudgingly praise a rude, ill-mannered brat?
Most of the crew didn’t think highly of Mu Wei’en.
After dinner, the group wanted to play some games to bond, but Wu Liang canceled, citing filming schedules and health concerns.
Everyone had to return to their assigned tents to rest.
Mu You arrived outside the luxury tent assigned to the first place and saw Mu Wei’en bypassing her, heading straight to the Mu family’s RV.
“I don’t want to sleep in the same tent as a traitor like you! Ptooey!” Mu You shook her head helplessly as she watched Mu Wei’en’s retreating figure.
She wanted to argue but thought better of it.
After all, Mu Wei’en had never been reasonable since childhood.
“Dad said not to argue with fools. I guess this is what he meant?” she murmured.
The luxury tent was spacious, with fluffy blankets, two small beds, delicious snacks, and fresh fruit.
The tent’s roof was transparent, allowing a view of the sky.
After a day of filming, she should have been exhausted and fallen asleep quickly.
But Mu You was excited.
Lying in bed, she counted the stars overhead.
“Meow.”
A familiar voice sounded.
It was the tabby cat, having tracked her scent into the tent.
“Hehe, kitty, you’re here! I made so many friends today. I’m really happy!”
Mu You cuddled the tabby into the blanket, sharing warmth and her joy from the day.
She didn’t mention the hornet sting to Li Jiaojiao or the fight between Mu Wei’en and Jin Yiyi.
She didn’t want the cat to worry.
As they happily chatted, two sharp screams suddenly came from outside the tent.
“Help!”
“There’s a snake in the tent!!”
