Chapter 101: What It Means to Get Along Well
Once all the girls had entered the private room, Yan Yan looked at Zhang Wuyong and whispered, “Big Fist Brother, do you know that Jing Lei is now following Zhao Rong?”
Zhang Wuyong was somewhat surprised. “She? Following Zhao Rong?”
Yan Yan sighed helplessly. “Yes! A couple of months ago, she suddenly told me she didn’t want to study anymore and wanted to hang out with me.”
“I tried to persuade her for a long time. Honestly, what kind of 'hanging out' do we have? We’re just messing around. If anyone could really study, would they be wandering outside like us?”
“People like us not only have poor grades, but most of us come from troubled families. We barely want to go home, so we end up messing around outside.”
“I told her her parents aren’t bad to her, and that she’s in the gifted class at No. 2 High School, which I heard is pretty good. She should have no problem getting into a top university.”
“But I don’t know what got into her. She was just stubborn. After that, she stopped coming to me. I thought maybe it was just pressure from the college entrance exam and that she would settle down.”
Zhang Wuyong pondered, “So, she didn’t attend evening study sessions or go home at night, and she wasn’t with you?”
Yan Yan looked utterly helpless. “If she were with me, it wouldn’t be so bad!”
“If she truly didn’t want to study, after the exams I could have taken her to do some livestreaming, maybe just skimming the edges of it.”
“It was only after her mother—my second aunt—asked that I found out she wasn’t going to evening classes. Then I heard from others that on several nights, she was seen with Zhao Rong.”
“I even tried to persuade her not to follow Zhao Rong, but it didn’t work.”
“A few days before the exam, I went to find her and saw her secretly buy a brand-new iPhone 14. She told me not to tell her parents. Where would I dare to tell?”
Following Zhao Rong?
Come to think of it, Zhao Rong was probably his first failed system mission.
The problem was, the system wanted him to persuade Zhao Rong to keep the “evil seed” and then take over the responsibility.
Once the evil seed was born, he could obtain some legendary demonic scripture called “The Great Lament of the Dao Heart Seed Demon in Heaven and Earth.”
What a joke.
If he accepted this burden, he might as well give up on being human.
And the heavenly-level demonic scripture he would receive would probably be useless to him!
Yan Yan looked up at him. “Big Fist Brother, I know Zhao Rong is kind of afraid of you! Could you please talk to her for me...”
“Yan Yan!” Zhang Wuyong raised his hand to stop her and said straightforwardly, “I can talk to Zhao Rong, and she definitely won’t dare to ignore me, but do you think it will help now?”
“Honestly, your cousin is following Zhao Rong, and at least we know Zhao Rong well. We know where her family lives, and she cares about her younger brother. She won’t be running around before his college entrance exam.”
“If I tell Zhao Rong not to take her along, you won’t know who she’ll follow afterward. What if someone takes her away and sells her to northern Myanmar? Will her family even be able to find her?”
Yan Yan hesitated for a moment but could only sigh in the end.
Zhang Wuyong said, “Anyway, I’ll talk to Zhao Rong and ask her to keep an eye on Jing Lei.”
“Of course, if you insist that she must stop taking Jing Lei along, I can...”
Yan Yan shook her head helplessly. “Forget it! It’s already like this. Big Fist Brother, you’re right.”
“Letting her follow Zhao Rong is better than letting her follow someone none of us even know.”
The two of them then entered the private room.
At this moment, Qian Shu and the others were already completely intoxicated by these younger sisters who looked even more like “good students” than their own female classmates.
They spoke loudly, which prompted the girls to coo and flirt, giving them a great sense of accomplishment.
Little did they know that in the eyes of these girls, they were just inexperienced rookies. With just a few words and a simple gesture, they were completely enchanted.
But these boys themselves didn’t have much money, so seducing them wasn’t really that meaningful.
Today, they came mainly out of respect for Big Fist Brother and Sister Yan Yan.
“Yo! Big Fist Brother! Long time no see, you’ve gotten so handsome!” A man holding a cup in his left hand and a drink in his right walked in.
He was tall and slender, with long hair and wearing glasses.
“Yo! Boss Huo, it’s been a while,” Zhang Wuyong stood up and introduced him to the others, “This is Boss Huo Hong, the owner here.”
Qian Shu and the others showed great respect. They had long heard that the owner of Hong Lian was well connected in both the underworld and the legitimate world of the city.
They never expected that even Boss Huo would call Zhang Wuyong “brother” and personally come over to toast him.
Zhang Wuyong himself wasn’t surprised.
As long as he was here, anyone who booked a private room through Huo Hong’s number would get a visit and a toast from him.
As the saying goes, good business is no accident.
It’s not about connections to the underworld or the legitimate world—this isn’t Hong Kong. It’s about knowing how to conduct oneself!
“Come, come! Today Big Fist Brother is gracing us with his presence. I’ll toast everyone,” Huo Hong said politely.
Yan Yan and the girls cheered along, making the whole room lively.
Zhang Wuyong drank quite a bit but surprisingly found his tolerance seemed to have improved.
He didn’t seem to be able to drink this much before.
“Big Fist Brother, you’re getting better at drinking!” Huo Hong sized him up, slinging an arm around his shoulder. “Hey, it’s been a while since we last met. How about we step outside and chat?”
Zhang Wuyong took his glass and drink, following him out.
“Who helped you change your style? You’re getting more handsome! Want to come do some livestreams during the summer break? I can pay you the same as Yan Yan, and if you work long-term, I can even help you with medical and social insurance… You’re eighteen this year, right?”
“This month!” Zhang Wuyong smiled. “Long-term won’t work; I still have to go to university. Summer job, maybe I can consider… Oh, wait, I also have to learn to drive.”
“How much time does learning to drive take?” Huo Hong asked. “You don’t even have to stream. Just follow the scripts we give you and shoot some videos. It’s simple. Mainly, you just have to be handsome. Being handsome makes things easier.”
They sat down on wooden carved seats in the lobby.
Huo Hong poured himself a drink and then filled Zhang Wuyong’s glass, sighing appreciatively. “Not bad!”
“I heard that about three months ago on Taibao Street, you took on more than ten people by yourself. The whole city’s underworld has been buzzing about it.”
Zhang Wuyong quickly said, “That’s not true. I didn’t lay a finger on anyone…”
“Right! I know. I asked Yan Yan and Dao Zhang about it!” Huo Hong said. “You really didn’t touch them, but you scared them all. They said several of them wet their pants afterward.”
He sighed, “They said that if they had dared to move even a bit, you would have killed them on the spot. The girl who was caught was so scared she wet her skirt right then and there.”
“Do you know why the story spread so much? Because Chen Hao was too embarrassed to admit that he quit out of fear of you. When asked, he said their gang of more than ten really went up against you and couldn’t beat you, so they had no choice.”
