Chapter 22: He Would Be Delighted to Transfer Several Billion to Your Account
“No, it’s just a bit strange.” He pulled out a chair for his wife, waited for Zhang Guoguo to sit down, and then, with gentlemanly grace, pushed it in for her. Almost out of habit, he left a kiss on her cheek, gazed at his wife, and couldn’t help but smile softly. He unbuttoned his tailored jacket, handed it to the waiter, and only then took his seat across from her.
“What are you curious about?”
“You used to hate sitting by the window, saying the sight of the traffic outside made you irritable. I’m surprised you chose to sit here today.”
Zhang Guoguo relaxed, picked up the menu and smiled, “Yes, that’s why I often tell you, if you could invent an air-powered flying car, it’d be perfect. No more smelling car exhaust when we go out, and it’d be great for energy saving and reducing emissions.”
She had indeed said this before. Luo Minglang recalled it and looked at his wife with indulgence. “You always have such wild ideas. Do you think the world’s two biggest airplane manufacturers, Boeing and Airbus, are just idle? If air-powered flight were possible, they’d have developed it long ago. Why would they still burn petroleum? But I still appreciate how much faith you have in your husband. Having dreams is a good thing.”
“Haha, you’re right.” She handed the menu to Luo Minglang. “You order, dear. I get dizzy just looking at it.”
This was Zhang Guoguo’s quirk; she had a strong tendency toward indecision. But Shen Lin Yue didn’t—she was always straightforward, except when it came to matters of the heart. She’d mentioned this to Chen Menglu during a chat, so she stuck to her usual character, hoping to quell Luo Minglang’s suspicions.
Luo Minglang took the menu and couldn’t help but lightly tap her nose. “You need me even to order food. What will you do if I’m not around?”
“If you’re not around, are you going to leave me? Hmph, you wouldn’t dare.”
She pouted and looked at him. He reached out and pressed her lips gently. The once indifferent eyes that used to stare at her had somehow become tender and gentle. Unable to resist, he stood up, leaned over the table, and kissed her lips.
The billionaire couple’s public display of affection was unrestrained, completely disregarding any innocent bystanders. The waiters and manager stared in astonishment, even giggling quietly. Luckily, the restaurant was reserved for them, so apart from the staff, only the couple was present, and there was no uproar.
Still, the staff’s emotions ran high. After all, being so close to the billionaire couple, they desperately wanted to take out their phones and snap pictures, but didn’t dare. The restaurant belonged to the billionaire’s property, after all.
The kiss was romantic and lingering. By the time Luo Minglang released Zhang Guoguo, she was dazed. When she finally came to herself, she noticed the manager smiling warmly at her. “Mrs. Luo, is there anything you’d like to eat?”
Her face was burning red as she lowered her head. Seeing this, Luo Minglang said to the manager, “Bring us a serving of all your newest dishes.”
“Certainly, please wait a moment.” The manager walked away. Zhang Guoguo covered her eyes. “That was so embarrassing, with all those people watching.”
“You’ll need to get used to it.”
“Ah, get used to this? It’s a public place—you should be mindful of your influence.”
“You are Zhang Guoguo, my wife. The whole world knows it. Is kissing you a crime? What influence? What does it matter?”
In Luo Minglang’s eyes, loving her meant letting the world know. For Zhang Guoguo, this was the love she wanted.
She peeked at him through her fingers. He was handsome, gentle, and courteous—the best side of himself. Toward others, he was domineering, decisive, cold, and sometimes utterly ruthless. The contrast always made her feel secure and needed.
At this moment, she only wanted to embrace him, because in him, she always saw another version of herself.
He gently pulled her hand away from her face and held it in his palm, his gaze soft as water. “Honey, I want to discuss something with you.”
“What is it?”
“Next week, I’ll be attending the Davos Global Economic Forum. I’ve managed to decline for several years, but this time, it’s unavoidable. The Minister of Commerce has been urging me to go. Will you accompany me, darling?”
“Of course.” She agreed without hesitation, delighting him. “Really? You’re wonderful, honey.”
He was as happy as a child, his eyes sparkling. Love, after all, was expressed in such simple ways.
She grasped his slender hand, met his gaze, and said with sincerity, “A wife must unconditionally support her husband’s career. Otherwise, who would I rely on to provide for me?”
Too many surprises. Zhang Guoguo had always refused to take his money, let alone any property. So Luo Minglang believed his love had changed her, melted her heart. In this moment, he felt so fortunate, so satisfied, because she cared about him and openly showed her love.

Preparing to leave for Davos, Zhang Guoguo was busy. Besides packing, she had to handle Xu Mengdie’s affairs, which were rather tricky, so she was determined not to waste time.
Behind the scenes, she contacted a former classmate working for the FBI in the United States, offering a hefty sum to resolve the issue and divert attention. This classmate, Sunny, did not disappoint her. Within a week, Xu Mengdie regained An Ruier’s trust and continued her infiltration.
But Xu Mengdie was not easy to deal with. Upon returning to An Ruier’s side, she immediately asked Zhang Guoguo for money. Yet Guoguo’s funds were running low. She thought of her husband, but didn’t want him to suspect the reason behind the money, so she sought advice from Chen Menglu.
The moment Chen Menglu heard that Guoguo was accompanying Luo Minglang to Davos, she nearly spat out her coffee. “You’re going with him to Davos? That’s not my style, but as for money, as long as you ask, he’ll never question it. On the contrary, he’ll be thrilled to transfer a few hundred million into your account right away.”
