“Father, can you guess where this organization comes from?” David remained deeply uneasy about the mysterious group and asked Hans.

“David, do you know where the Elixir of Youth comes from?” Hans did not answer directly, but asked in return.

He idly rolled the test tube that held the Elixir of Youth between his fingers, while a cold glint flickered in his eyes.

“Father, you know?” David asked at once, his spirits jolting.

Since the organization valued the Elixir of Youth so highly, it had to be a special resource under its control. If Hans knew where the Elixir came from, then the organization’s origins could naturally be inferred.

“The Elixir of Youth is not a product of the Federation. It comes from the Divine Dominion World, and is a specialty of that world. As for how it is made, I do not know,” Hans explained.

“If this organization can obtain the Elixir of Youth, could it have some connection to the Divine Dominion World?” David pressed on.

“Although the Elixir of Youth is indeed a specialty of the Divine Dominion World, some of the Federation’s stronger figures are acquainted with powerful people from there, and they sometimes trade for small amounts of it. So to conclude that the organization is connected to the Divine Dominion World merely from this bit of Elixir of Youth would be a little far-fetched,” Hans said, shaking his head.

Yet David felt a chill run through him, because what he had obtained was not merely those five vials of the Elixir of Youth, but a full crate of four hundred and fifty vials.

Listening to Hans’s words, he could read between the lines: only a large quantity of the Elixir of Youth would inevitably imply a connection to the Divine Dominion World.

At once, he stopped himself from saying anything more about the organization or the Elixir of Youth. This matter must never drag Hans into danger.

If his judgment was correct, he was very likely now standing against some organization linked to the Divine Dominion World, or at the very least one backed by it.

A force like that was not something someone like him could face unscathed, not even if he were far stronger than he was now.

The reason David had survived until now was only because the organization had regarded him as a minor figure and not taken him seriously.

Once they learned that he was the one who had killed Trainer Jeremy and stolen the Elixir of Youth, the pursuit would never stop.

“Father, can five vials of the Elixir of Youth heal your body?” David changed the subject and returned to the question he had asked at the beginning.

“Of course they can repair my body, but it would be too wasteful. A single vial of the Elixir of Youth could fetch an astronomical price anywhere,” Hans said, pushing the five vials back toward him. “David, you will need more resources in the future. The credit points the Stet Hotel can provide are not much. These five vials of the Elixir of Youth can be exchanged for a great deal of resources for you.”

“Father, you do not need to refuse. This is my sincerity. Only if your body recovers will the organization stop coveting the title of National Hero,” David said with a smile, pushing the vials back to him again.

At those words, Hans paused. Then he took two of the five vials.

“Two are enough. Though the Elixir of Youth is praised in the Federation for extending life, its healing effects far surpass the Federation’s medical standards,” Hans explained.

His injuries had been sustained in war. They were complex: damage from using an armored sniper rifle beyond the body’s limits, the influence of insect-race toxins, and the exhaustion of his own life force.

Even with the Federation’s gene-repair medicine, his body could not be restored. Perhaps it might have been possible, but the cost required to save one person alone was so enormous that the Federation would never permit it.

The Divine Dominion World was different. There, many mysterious methods existed that science could not explain, and the Elixir of Youth was one of them.

“Father, keep the remaining three vials as well, just in case,” David insisted.

Hans stared at him for a while, seeming to sense something. Then he let out a long breath.

“I’ll take all of them. You must be extremely careful. If anything happens, notify me, or notify Galen!” Hans said gravely. Then he continued, “As for the title of National Hero, I will leave a just testament. You are the direct heir to that title.”

David wanted to refuse, but after thinking it over, he said nothing.

The title of National Hero would greatly raise his standing and bring immense benefits to his future.

But he was confident that he could achieve even greater things with his own hands, and he had no particular desire for that title.

If there were no such legal testament, not only would he himself be in danger because of the title, even little Eddy would be dragged into its consequences.

He would bear all the pressure alone. If the organization wanted the title of National Hero, then it would first have to kill him, and only then would it consider dealing with Hans’s family.

When Hans left, David did not ask him to keep the matter of the Elixir of Youth secret, because there was no need to say it. From the way Hans wrapped the five vials in layer upon layer of packaging, sealing them tightly and disguising them with additional outer wrappings, it was obvious that he understood very well how necessary secrecy was.

After seeing Hans off, David did not let the shadow attendant transmit energy to him. His body had not fully recovered yet, and he did not want to waste even a little.

For the same reason, he did not dare reach out to probe the state of the shadow attendant’s body either, afraid that the moment he made contact, soul energy would be forced into him.

“David, why did you leave the hospital?” Before long, he received a message from Jim.

“My injuries are minor. They would have been repaired in the hospital in no time,” David replied with a smile through his identity band.

“Forget it. Where are you? I’ll come get you. Whatever happens, we’re having a get-together today!” Jim said directly.

David shook his head and sent over his location.

Within five minutes, David saw a military hovercar bearing military insignia flying to the air above his courtyard, then descending into the yard.

“Jim, why did you drive a military vehicle here?” David asked in surprise as he looked at the insignia.

Before, although Jim had always driven a military hovercar, it had never carried military markings. That could only be considered a civilian use of military hardware. But today was different. This military hovercar bore official insignia, meaning it was a vehicle with military privileges.

Just now, Jim had even flown it in at low altitude. In the past, he would not have dared to do that no matter how many guts he had.

The sky net did not care whether you were some officer’s son from Peran City; without authorization, it would lock onto you without hesitation.

“Heh heh, what do you think of this guy?” Jim jumped down from the military hovercar and patted it proudly.

“Aren’t you afraid Lieutenant Eaton will beat you to death?” David teased.

“This is a Type-II Land Tiger armored vehicle. It carries an unmanned reconnaissance scanner, a rapid-fire cannon, and twin heavy rapid-fire machine guns on the left and right. It runs on crystal energy and is the best military vehicle in the city defense division!” Jim introduced it as if he were showing off a treasure.

“Jim, bringing this thing out won’t cause trouble for Lieutenant Eaton, will it?” David asked in alarm.

He had never imagined that such a hovercar would carry so many weapons. Calling it a hovercar hardly seemed right; it was not far from being a small war fortress.

“My father had me bring it over. He said that before your military merit is approved, he can’t advance your authorization in advance, but he can assign this military vehicle to you for use to protect your safety. Consider it the military’s first reward!” Jim said with a smile. Then he sent a permission transfer file to David’s identity band.

“Jim, thank Lieutenant Eaton for me. I like this car very much!” David was genuinely pleased. What man did not love military vehicles, especially one armed with so many different weapons?

“Get in. Let’s take it out and test it!” Jim opened the passenger door and shouted as he leaped inside.

David’s interest was piqued as well. He opened the driver’s door and climbed in.

Sitting in the driver’s seat, looking at all the extra buttons and the military-style panels, he felt excitement rise within him.

But he still took out the manual lying beside him and began reading it first. If he did not understand what every button did and accidentally activated the weapons systems inside the city, it would truly be a disaster.
