Volume One, Chapter 23: Care to Try My Cooking?
Back in her room, Yin Ling felt hungry from the physical exertion. After finishing the meal on the table, she sat down quietly, only to be interrupted by a rapid knocking at the door.
Fu Yan entered the filming set without any obstruction. Perhaps the guards recognized Ye Anqi’s car, noted the license plate, or simply assumed it was a high-end vehicle and that he was a relative of one of the actors coming for a visit.
This left Yu Feng, who had just processed what was said, spitting out his drink. What kind of talk was that? The very thing that would amuse a lecherous man had suddenly occurred at a time when it felt utterly unreachable, right after waking up in the morning.
Weeding required both squatting and using one’s hands—wasn't that exactly what would aggravate his already sore, weak, and aching arms and legs?
Just as Yanyu tensed her entire body, ready to seize the first gap in the spiderweb to make her escape, a series of hurried sounds came from behind her.
"What? Are you unwilling to leave?" Steward Qiao curled his lips, staring at the ten people with a beaming smile.
"By the way, Lin Feng, I received a fax from South Korea today saying they want to follow Japan's lead and partner with our company on the air purifiers! I have no idea how they got the news." Xia Ruoxi suddenly brought up the inexplicable fax the company had received that day.
"Of course. I told you, you can't escape!" Before she knew it, they were at the Civil Affairs Bureau. They had been in line since early morning; the moment they stepped out of the car, they were whisked away to take photos, fill out forms, and receive their certificates. Wang Xi was still reeling from the shock, while Fang Zixun took both marriage certificates for himself.
"Your Majesty, it is better not to ask Sister, lest she misunderstand again. I just wanted to lean on you; I feel much better now! For your sake, I don’t mind anything!" Consort Xi did not forget to act coquettishly toward Chu Yueyang, implying that she had suffered grievances for his sake, hoping to make him feel guilty and favor her more.
Sitting inside, she had the proprietress bring a crate of beer. She took a sip, the flavor of the fresh foam sliding down her throat, then downed three bottles in one go before finally pausing her frantic drinking.
"It is indeed a fine thing, though it seems to have been brought out a bit late." Ming Xuan took the jade bottle and sniffed it; the scent was extremely faint, making it truly difficult to detect.
"Nine Heavens Profound Thunder!" A pillar of lightning as thick as a tree trunk struck from the sky. Wuming was powerless to resist and plummeted straight down.
The other two had never seen the arrogant registration clerk be so respectful and polite to a new disciple, and they gaped in astonishment, their faces full of disbelief.
"The Great Evolution Formation is not something your mortal eyes can perceive! Your cultivation is still far from sufficient!" Chang Feng said helplessly.
He looked at himself and finally understood: bare-chested and barefoot, with only two animal skins wrapped around his waist, his hair—tangled and unkempt from who knows how long—fell to his waist. At first glance, he truly looked like a savage.
Star Coins are the currency issued by the Radiant Temple Bank, circulating throughout the entire Nebula World. Star Coin cards were designed for convenience and are a symbol of the wealthy; ordinary commoners cannot afford them.
Zhu Jiangping had never seen a young man with such heavy killing intent. His cold eyes seemed so accustomed to death that, held by the throat, he felt as if he had already lost half his life.
PS: Going home for the holidays. Spent all day on the bus today and wrote this on the road. I'm exhausted... please offer some comfort. I’ll resume updates tomorrow. I truly feel bad for you brothers that I couldn't manage two or three chapters a day.
In this region spanning several dozen miles, nothing that entered could survive; they were either corrupted by evil spirits or perished.
Ju Shou grew increasingly suspicious of what trick Lu Bu might be playing and decided to head to Jiguang Pass himself to see if he could find clues from Zhang Liao and Pang De.
Yu Mengmeng’s humble, soft voice drifted through the security door, bit by bit corroding the barriers I had built.
My hand reached into my pocket, holding my phone, and I pressed the side button. Just as I had shoved my hand into my pocket earlier, I happened to touch the phone and, keeping my wits about me, pressed the record button.
Because the Council of Elders no longer provided oversight, the contract between Bill and Yang Fan was signed smoothly, allowing their entire scheme to unfold without suspicion.
"Not at all!" Su Yan smiled and shook his head. Having just chatted with Xiao Lang, how could he not know his personality? He had always admired the Seventh Prince, the War God of the Tiansheng Kingdom. Being able to become friends with such a figure made him very happy.
At this moment, in the Wang family mansion, the brothers Wang Chao and Wang Shan were somewhat restless and anxious, pacing back and forth. Wang Zhan, on the other hand, sat calmly in his seat. Although Wang Huo was also seated, his expression betrayed his unease as he kept glancing at the composed Wang Zhan.
But now, she was resilient yet kind. She knew that life exacted a price, but it also required forgiveness.
"If you have something to say, just say it. I'm not an outsider, so why hesitate?" Li Hong asked hurriedly.
Just as Xiao Caifu’s hand touched the hem of Chu Liangchen’s garment, a bright, chilling light flashed in the darkness, the cold air rushing straight at her. Xiao Caifu retreated rapidly, her body instinctively bending backward. A second later, a blade whizzed past her face with a sharp whistle.
"She is doing just fine. She doesn't want me or the child anymore. I thought she would tell you where she went. I didn't expect you to be in the dark, too. It seems she really intends to leave me," Xiao Yiheng said, sounding wounded.
Xiao Caifu kept waiting for him, tears streaming down her face. "You are not worth forgiving." No one liked to play games with their own life, but this man seemed addicted to it.
"Does my past make you lose confidence in me?" Gao Haotian’s expression held a trace of wistfulness.
Three days later, Young Master Mu ended his assassination game after killing eighteen ninth-rank Barbarian Gods. With five of the seven stars of the Taiyin alignment now overlapping, he had no more time to hunt these gods; after all, the fate of Yaochi and the others remained unknown.
"Xiaoxiao, are you sure he doesn't accept you just because you were an arranged marriage match?" Jiang Yue finally collected his thoughts.
Xi Xichen also looked up, her brow furrowed at the dark, oppressive clouds. The weather this year was truly strange, shifting in a thousand ways.
