Chapter 25: I Can't Finish It, I Really Can't Finish It

Just as Tieshi was beginning to feel a bit drowsy, Zhao Yu’s petty nature flared up, and he silently tried to hint that it was time for the guest to leave.
Tieshi immediately shook his head. “No need to rush.”
Helping out with the cooking clearly brought them closer; how could he just leave now?
Zhao Yu couldn’t help but feel frustrated.
He could have refused to feed Ling Xuzi and the others before with righteous justification, but not Tieshi...
After all, he had just feasted at Tieshi’s home, and now Tieshi was at his place. To not invite him to eat would damage their friendship.
Though he already considered Tieshi a good friend, he still hesitated to invite him to share a meal at his house... he couldn’t explain why, but he just couldn’t bring himself to do it.
Wait, hadn’t they just eaten together?
Thinking this through, Zhao Yu’s eyes flickered. “Brother Tie, we just finished eating; we really don’t need another meal. How about I just cook for my little brother and Maruko?”
“That’s fine,” Tieshi replied casually.
Eat? He hadn’t eaten in a long time.
If it weren’t for accompanying Zhao Yu, he would have long since stopped eating grains.
Zhao Yu brightened up and cheerfully called out, “Brother Tie, add more firewood and get the fire blazing—I’m making noodles now.”
“All right...”
Tieshi stoked the fire with renewed vigor.
*Creak...* The kitchen door opened.
Zhao Yu glanced over and saw his young sister-in-law; he immediately reassured her, “Don’t worry, it’ll be ready soon.”
Maruko licked her lips. “Brother-in-law, you just mentioned moving somewhere—what does that mean?”
Tieshi stood up and smiled. “Miss, it’s like this: I’m the leader of the Bear Clan. Lately, evil spirits have become more rampant near our tribe, and the winds of despair sweep through everywhere... I’m considering relocating the tribe nearby. If that causes any trouble, I hope you’ll understand.”
“Of course, if you prefer peace and quiet and do not wish to be disturbed, I won’t impose.”
After speaking, a wave of unease stirred in Tieshi’s heart.
Though Zhao Yu had invited him, if Zhao Yu’s family were unwilling... having someone with unfathomable cultivation who was disliked would only bring trouble.
Maruko blinked her big eyes.
In an instant, she became adorable, smiling sweetly, “Since you’re Brother-in-law’s friend, moving here sounds good. We can all have more fun together.”
Tieshi immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

Whether it was just his imagination or the result of this relief, the previous drowsiness vanished completely.
Maruko looked at him with concern, “When will you move? Are there difficulties? Do you need help?”
Tieshi thought for a moment before answering, “The new location isn’t far from the tribe. I’ll scout around nearby to find a suitable spot. Once decided, the move should begin within two or three days.”
The sooner the move, the sooner peace of mind.
“That’s right, it’s dangerous outside now. If you encounter difficulties during the move, you can always come to my brother-in-law,” Maruko said earnestly before hopping away.
Once Maruko was out of earshot, Tieshi sighed, “Your sister is truly innocent and carefree when she’s herself.”
Whether in the tribe or during visits to the Great Qian Empire, he had never seen a girl so genuinely sweet and lovely, especially one with such extraordinary cultivation.
Zhao Yu puffed out his chest proudly. “Of course, my little sister is the cutest.”
Praising Zhao Yu himself might not always bring joy, but complimenting his family always made him happy.
Soon, the noodles were ready. Tieshi stepped out to survey the surroundings, searching for a suitable new home for the tribe.
About two hours later,
The sky darkened as night approached.
After finishing the noodles, Mu Han went back to her room.
Maruko rested her head on the table, her voice crisp, “Brother-in-law, I don’t think their move will go smoothly. Why don’t you go help?”
Zhao Yu immediately refused, “You little girl, don’t you know we’re just ordinary mortals without cultivation? What help could we possibly offer? If a large number of man-eating evil spirits show up, what if something happens to me?”
Two fists are no match for four hands; he wasn’t afraid of one or two.
But if there were more than three, he’d have no choice but to run.
And Tieshi had said before that many evil spirits roamed near the Bear Clan—many!
Maruko’s eyes welled up with tears. “Brother-in-law, I’m sorry. I was just hoping that after they moved here, I’d have someone to share girl talk with. I was worried things might go badly, so I wanted you to check on them...”
Zhao Yu hated seeing tears, especially from his little sister-in-law.
Without hesitation, he said seriously, “You can’t think like that. What if Brother Tie and the others have a smooth move?”
Maruko choked up again, “It’s not just about having no close girlfriends to share secrets with. Brother-in-law, if you don’t go... you won’t get to eat those delicious chicken, duck, and fish dishes you just talked about anymore...”
Zhao Yu’s brow furrowed deeply.
Though the previous feast had little nutrition, its taste was undeniable. If he lost that...
“Maruko, it’s not often you get to find someone to play with. If something really happens to them, that would be terrible. No, I have to go check.”

Muttering to himself, Zhao Yu touched the firewood knife at his waist and set off running toward the Bear Clan.
Two fists no match for four hands? The tribe had many people; combined, that meant many hands.
...
Three days later,
The winds of despair in the Shadow Mountains increased again, along with the number of evil spirits.
Previously, the strong could rely on their cultivation to ignore such threats, and they paid little heed to the obviously dangerous winds of despair.
Now, almost no one dared to venture outside rashly. Without divine protection, one was bound to face the double assault of the despair winds and evil spirits.
The Bear Clan,
Early morning.
Faced with Tieshi’s proposal, many hesitated. “The situation is getting more dangerous. Is it really necessary to relocate in the next few days?”
From their vantage point, they could see the tribe’s only “weak point”—the main gate. Outside, a vast sea of black wind stretched endlessly.
The black wind was so dense it blotted out the sky!
Sunlight barely pierced into the million-mile Shadow Mountains.
Tieshi gazed outside. “I have a feeling these evil spirits have not attacked the tribe yet—not because they don’t want to, but because the time hasn’t come.”
“Judging by the current trend, within ten to fifteen days, the endless winds of despair will completely shroud the heavens and earth. Then, the Shadow Mountains may no longer see the sun.”
“The evil spirits are likely waiting for that day.”
The more he spoke, the graver Tieshi’s expression became.
If sunlight still shone normally, even if evil spirits attacked, they could only retreat by day, giving the Bear Clan ample rest and breathing room.
But if what he feared came true... with no respite and the ever-watchful presence of mysterious evil paper figures lurking somewhere, the Bear Clan would inevitably be overrun and driven to the brink of annihilation.
Better to take the risk of moving now.
Relocating near Zhao Yu’s home meant that even if evil spirits besieged them, they would have strong allies to call upon, avoiding a dead end.
