Chapter 17: The Beloved "Little Devil" of Lanba Academy

“Sister Beibei, I’ve broken through to level ten too~ When are we going to obtain our soul rings?”
“Sister Beibei, just like you taught me, my first soul skill can really change temporarily!”
“Sister Beibei, Senior Tylong has brought people to find us again! We only ate two of his pieces of bread. He’s so stingy!”
Several months later, everyone at Blue Tyrant Academy knew that the school had gained a “little demon.”
At first, everyone assumed Jiang Beibei was relying on her relationship with Liu Erlong to lead a group of lackeys around, throwing her weight about and playing pranks all day long.
Only later did they discover that every one of the little brats following behind her possessed extraordinary talent.
Yet Jiang Beibei, the leader of the children, had never lifted a finger herself.
Even so, every student who came looking for trouble returned having chosen to compromise. As for why, not a single one of them was willing to say much about it, as though it were some shameful piece of dark history.
“Senior Tylong? Let him come. You lot, hurry up and go cultivate. Don’t run around outside for the next few days.”
“Yes, Sister Beibei!”
Xu Shuangshuang and the others, having “caused trouble,” giggled as they slipped back toward the rear mountain, leaving Jiang Beibei alone where she stood.
*Sigh.* Looking after children really was the most troublesome thing in the world. They had all this precious time and refused to cultivate, spending every day causing trouble for her instead.
In her previous life, she had never even had a boyfriend. After crossing into this world, how had she ended up with so many “little brats” all at once?
And her Erlong Mom, delighted to discover that her daughter possessed such talent for management, was more than happy to enjoy her leisure. As long as nothing truly serious happened, she left everything to Beibei to handle.
“Xu Shuangshuang, Shi Guang, you little brats, get out here! You dared to steal food right under my nose? I’ll beat you until your backsides blossom!”
Tylong appeared before Jiang Beibei in a fury, accompanied by several students whose faces were covered in all manner of doodles.
“Jiang Beibei, move aside. Today’s matter has nothing to do with you. Just look at how they treated their senior! I’m going to teach them a proper lesson!”
Seeing Jiang Beibei standing there with her arms folded, Tylong’s tone unconsciously softened somewhat. After explaining the situation, he tried to circle around this “little aunt” whom no one dared provoke.
“Senior Tylong, they’re just a bunch of ignorant little brats. Beibei will catch them and make them apologize properly later. There’s no need to make such a big commotion, is there?”
As Jiang Beibei said this, she felt that something was off. How had she, without realizing it, started sounding like those annoying parents who blindly protected their children?
Perhaps excessive indulgence was not a good thing after all. She would have to find an opportunity to give these little devils a proper lesson in discipline.
“No! They have to be taught a good lesson today, or they’ll never learn!”
If Tylong had come alone, he might have been persuaded to back down. But today was different. A group of “underlings” who trusted him stood behind him.
If he slunk back just like this, his prestige would be utterly ruined. Who would listen to him after that?

“Exactly!”
“We can’t just let this go!”
“Jiang Beibei, don’t think we’re truly afraid of you. If it weren’t for Dean Liu protecting you, we would have—”
“Smack!”
Someone in the crowd, lacking the sense to keep quiet, opened his mouth to spout nonsense. Tylong slapped him on the back of the head, frightening him into hurriedly ducking down.
*Sigh.* “Since you’ve brought up Mom, why don’t we ask her to come and judge the matter today?”
Jiang Beibei knew that Erlong Mom was in an excellent mood today, pruning flowers and plants in the little house on the rear mountain. Asking her to step in should not be difficult.
Besides, because of their agreement, Beibei had so far only subdued some of the students—including Tylong—with her charm. Many still were not entirely convinced by her.
When the time came to act, she still had to display a little of her strength.
“Uh…”
“This is such a minor matter. There’s no need to trouble the dean, is there?”
“Exactly. We can settle it privately. There’s no need to disturb the dean.”
At the mention of that hot-tempered dean, the students who had been shouting moments ago instantly fell silent.
What kind of joke was this? If they disturbed the dean’s peace, neither the wrongdoers nor the victims would come away unscathed.
“You all wait here. Beibei will go fetch Mom!”
Who would have thought that Jiang Beibei, already itching to stretch her muscles, would give them no chance to react? She turned and dashed toward the rear mountain.
The sudden turn of events left the students who had been pranked staring at one another.
“Brother Tylong, perhaps we should just forget it?”
“They only painted a few designs on our faces. Who among us didn’t do that when we were kids?”
“This Jiang Beibei is too awful, relying on the dean’s favoritism—”
“Smack!”
“That mouth of yours will get torn apart sooner or later!”
Put in such an awkward position, Tylong could do nothing but vent his anger on that loose-lipped junior for the moment.

Before long, a figure in blue robes came striding toward them in a whirlwind.
“Beibei has already explained everything to me. Since you’ve invited me here to judge the matter, let’s settle it this way: both sides will resolve the dispute according to the rules of soul masters. That is the fairest solution!”
Just as Jiang Beibei had expected, Liu Erlong was in an exceptionally good mood today, and the solution she proposed was remarkably fair.
“According to the rules of soul masters? Dean, do you mean that we should fight these little brats?”
The proposal instantly revived the spirits of the students who had been looking rather dispirited.
Wasn’t this exactly the outcome they had wanted?
“Picking on children would be rather inappropriate…”
Tylong, who stood at the head of the group, pondered for a moment and did not appear quite as enthusiastic.
He could accept simply beating up some ordinary children, but turning the matter into a battle between soul masters was another thing entirely.
The students were generally several years older than the children, and their soul-power levels were more than ten grades higher. It would truly amount to adults bullying children.
“Judging by your confidence, it seems you’re certain of victory, Tylong?”
Liu Erlong smiled at the students while gently patting Beibei’s head beside her.
She had opposed this challenge at first.
Revealing Beibei’s true strength too easily would be extremely dangerous.
But one sentence from Jiang Beibei had moved her:
“Mom, Senior Tylong is a good person. With you supervising him, he shouldn’t reveal anything. Beibei can’t hide behind you for the rest of her life. I want to have a proper, open battle between soul masters too!”
A soul master’s strength did not necessarily increase simply because their soul-power level was higher. If one focused only on raising one’s level without gaining actual combat experience, being defeated by someone of a higher level was perfectly normal.
Just as Beibei had said, she could not avoid fighting soul masters forever. A battle limited to the academy and a small circle of participants, under Liu Erlong’s supervision, carried an extremely low risk of exposing her secrets.
“Dean, what are you saying? If I can’t defeat this bunch of little… junior brothers and sisters, then I might as well stop showing my face around the academy!”
Born of the Power Clan, Tylong had a fiery temper as well. He had merely suppressed it deliberately in order to maintain a good image.
Now that Liu Erlong had provoked him, he could no longer be bothered to consider the matter carefully. No matter what, he was determined to prove himself.
